Pleasure to be part of the journey for the brilliant first book by @MattColeWorks at @vocebooks - excoriating, educative and hopeful as he lays out how wage theft happens and how we might get past it. Everyone needs to read this book.

Hard to think of a greater honor than to be considered The Economist‘s intellectual enemy #1. My work is “intellectual ballast” for the largest number of Americans since 1975 wanting government to “improve the standard of living” of the poor, cut their costs, raise their incomes and stop AI from wrecking society, they say. Dream of an endorsement. Thank you @TheEconomist!

“The battle between oligarchic forces and democratic forces is the battle of the 21st century.” On Downstream, French economist @Gabriel_Zucman explains that billionaires save almost 100% of their income – so their wealth grows faster than everyone else. “If we don’t break that spiral, we’re going to see more wealth at the top and more concentration of power,” he explains. A century ago, the world invented progressive income taxation. Now, Zucman argues, we need progressive wealth taxation. Watch the full conversation between Zucman and @AaronBastani on our YouTube.

Wage theft dwarfs all other types of theft by billions! That's why I wrote a book about it. @hasanthehun you might be interested? versobooks.com/en-gb/product…
Hasan Piker: “If you steal from the poor, you become rich. If you steal from the wealthy, you go to prison. There’s only one direction where you can do unlimited theft. Wage theft is the most consequential amount of theft that takes place in the United States of America”

The Shadow Home Secretary is on @BBCRadio4 calling for people to have citizenship revoked and be deported without committing a crime if they express anti-white views. And he’s barely challenged on this extremist view.

This is getting increasingly bizarre.
🚨BREAKING -- Culture secretary Lisa Nandy makes an urgent statement on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending a football game in Birmingham. "We will find the resources that need to be made available once the West Midlands police has come forward with the risk assessment", she says.

sorry @ZackPolanski but if you want to make this a fairer society with broadly shared prosperity you must waste your time being condescended to by Britain’s most tedious YouTubers about why that’s neither desirable nor possible
If you want to make bold claims, you’re welcome to, but have the courage to face real scrutiny. Otherwise, it’s just weak. @ZackPolanski, this is your public invite to come on Triggernometry.

Taking a single journal article by a history PhD student and its finding that 10% of people in C19 Ancoats were middle class, then using this to say that Engels was ‘taking liberties’ in a headline on the fifth article on the Guardian homepage … those are some real real moves

These people are so delusional. Let’s assume this isn’t a wildly disingenuous claim in itself. So what? Grok 4 does nothing for most people. AI literally reduces brain activity and consumes vast amounts of energy and water. It is a bubble that is ruining the world.

Grok 4, likely the largest publicly released model ever trained, required less water than a square mile of farmland uses in a year "Exaggerated" doesn't even begin to describe how unfounded the AI water usage concerns are

A shocking investigation has revealed that employers who fail to pay wages in the UK simply get away with it. Out of more than 4,800 firms fined since 2016, just 109 have actually paid. While the government has levied £9.6m in fines, it has recovered only £95,000, less than 1%. It’s time to make wage theft a criminal matter, argues @MattColeWorks.
