Emergency repairs to the Potomac Interceptor are complete. Full flow has been restored and the C&O Canal has been fully drained as part of site restoration. Since Jan 19, crews worked around the clock to stabilize the site and protect the Potomac River. #DCWater
Even on the holidays our crews don’t stop. While we fix a water main on Kennedy St NE, #TeamBlue immediately got to work bringing bottled water to ~ 60 homes b/c we understand how disruptive it can be to your holiday.
We’ll do our best to restore service as quickly as we can.
A single ray of sunlight pokes through the clouds on this Christmas Eve Eve sunset over the Anacostia River, through the @newfdmb from @dcwater as a plane from @Reagan_Airport takes a load of people home for the holidays….

After a $1.6 billion investment and years of hard work, the Seine River, which was once heavily polluted, is now clean enough for swimming for the first time in over a century. The city has also invested in three public swimming locations.
📍 Paris 🇫🇷
It's frigid & not a great day for an open water swim in the Anacostia River, but for the first time I can remember, I can see through the crystal clear waters down to the riverbed from DC Water's HQO rooftop. Great to see the river healing. @AnacostiaRrkper@anacostiaws@dcwater
It was a cold & windy night but we braved the crosstown traffic to seek out the perfect Christmas tree and lo, my heart was warmed, checking out @Meadowsfarms we saw the @bluedropco#bloomsoil literature in the rack! You can purchase bloomsoil.com at Meadows Farms now!
Speaking of #circulareconomy, it was great to speak to the Falls Church VA @MeridianMustang Environmental Systems & Societies class this week. Like DC, Falls Church gets its water from the Washington Aqueduct & the Pure Water DC program can improve the region’s water resilience💧
My daughter is flying home for Thanksgiving from @universityofga via ATL. Landing at DCA, she just sent me this photo. I must be dong something right. 💧
Extra, extra! Read all about it.

Ever wonder what’s going on by the Watergate?👀
We’re building the Potomac River Tunnel, a 5.5-mile underground system keeping millions of gallons of sewage out of the Potomac. This is the kind of investment that will protect the river for generations. #PotomacRiverTunnel
1/2: Great job by our People & Talent team and health partners-this event gets better each year. “Healthy, Safe, & Well” is 1 of our 5 @dcwater Strategic Imperatives-that applies to our employees as well as the water we supply & the products we create…
Cooler than your workplace? Maybe. 😏
This week, we treated our team to a midweek mental health break: massages, smoothie bikes, succulent planting, and more. 💆🏽♀️🌿 Just another way we show up for the people who show up for our city. #DCWater
2/2: the healthy food options inspired take home ideas. This dish is simply much tastier with some exquisite @dcwater Blue Plains Honey from some of our beekeeper #Bloomsoil team
1/4: Hats off to our Lead Free DC @dcwater team & our contractors. Had the pleasure today of spending the morning at a full lead line replacement in NE DC. From the water main to the meter, under the yard, & inside the house, it is no small feat to replace a lead service line.
3/4: The skilled team quickly moved from the old lead pipe removal to pushing the hydraulic “mole” from meter to home and then pulling the new copper pipe from meter to newly-tapped water main.
4/4: Almost 10,000 of these @DCWater lead pipe replacements done so far, but many more to go. Newfound respect for our team and contractors. More info here on our Lead Free DC Program: dcwater.com/resources/lead
While you enjoyed the 🌞 this weekend our crews were working hard to fix the 108" sewer pipe in NE DC - cutting and cleaning the edges. The work goes on, with the sewage flowing, that's why much of the 👷🛠️ happens at night when the flow is low. #DCWater
