10 years ago I was still stuck in the query trenches (lost & confused). Here’s a few things I’ve learned about writing/publishing in the past decade 🧵 1. Resilience. Rejection is part of the job. It gets easier. It’s not that your work isn’t good it’s that it isn’t a good fit.

Tornado just south of us in Madisonville, Kentucky and moving east. Super windy and stormy. Some hail a few miles north. Tomorrow is gonna be ugly around here. šŸ™šŸ»

Yes, this! @ANNELAMOTT If we lived closer, I'd bring popcorn and chocolate.
Replying to @ANNELAMOTT
A jillion of us out here would pay a cool $1000 to sulk and overeat with you.

I am 62 years old, single, and recently, after watching ā€œLove Actuallyā€ for the 17th time — toxic though it may be — I downloaded a dating app and started the arduous process of vetting men so that I, too, might actually find love. Again. (a thread)

I'm giving away this free, signed copy of The Dark Heart of Every Wild Thing, a novel of survival, adventure, and healing. I'll pick one name at random from the list of all who ā¤ļø this post. Your name will appear twice on the list if you share.

Over a happy hour with friends at a large, noisy indoor craft pub brewery, I say, ā€œThis summer, I'm teaching a beginner’s watercolor course. Its called loose flowers.ā€ One heard, loose squirrels, the other heard, loose morals. And now I'm rethinking so much.

Bravo @LBMcCarty717 I’m so glad you're alive to tell this story and help others. ā€œThough I trusted my doctors, I also trusted my intuition.ā€ šŸ™ŒšŸ»šŸ”„
I'm nervous and proud to share my latest personal essay for @huffpost on how I almost died in childbirth - twice. Grateful to be alive to tell this story. Please read and share this to help save lives! Thank you to the kindest editor @noahmichelson! huffpost.com/entry/postpartu…

One of the Big 5 I didn't see while on African safari was a leopard. A disappointment for sure and sadly not a surprise. African leopards are listed as ā€œendangeredā€ under the Endangered Species Act. Habitat loss is one of the greatest threats to these gorgeous cats. 1/
