James Ferguson II was one of North Carolina's most powerful voices for justice.
He co-founded the state's first interracial law firm, defended civil rights activists and helped lead Swann v. CMS, the landmark Supreme Court case that led to busing as a tool to desegregate public schools nationwide.
Through every threat and setback, he never backed down.
Charlotte is better because of him.
We honor his legacy and commit to continuing the fight for equity and justice.
