Initially he claimed that the program had 20% misspending. That is outright false. We debunked it immediately but he wouldn’t listen. Instead he continued to push that claim, and also claimed that 20% of accounts had purchased something unallowed. That may or may not be true, but the reality is that less than 2% of transactions were unallowed and even the vast majority of those were innocent mistakes like buying backpacks, while only 0.3% were egregious items like diamond rings.
The way Craig spun the story, it sounded like 20% of transactions were for diamond rings.
Anyone with a shred of journalistic integrity would run a retraction. Then again, if he had any journalistic integrity, he wouldn’t be here.
