Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Science is full of unseen forces, and women are one of them. š§«
From decoding microbes to shaping medicine, women in science are transforming how we understand life itself.
Happy to share a short review near and dear to @sonnytmlee and me about the future of gut microbiota research. Importantly moving beyond associations to mechanisms that can be illuminating in disease and inflammation. #GutMicrobiota#omics@KStateArtScidoi.org/10.1159/000549457
Meet Carrie Cowardin, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, whose lab is exploring how nutrition and the gut microbiome shape immune development in young children. #ResearchinMotion
Excited to share our lab's most recent work looking at the role of maternal #nutrition and #microbiome in prenatal and postnatal growth during undernutrition! Thanks to the amazing team who worked so hard on this project! @SerranoMatosYA@atclairewills
š Join us in welcoming the 2025 cohort of NMDC Ambassadors! Stay tuned to see what they accomplish and visit microbiomedata.org/ambassado⦠to learn more about these amazing early career researchers and our Ambassador Program
Check out this lastest work by @AnnaKazarina2. If you are into plant-microbe interaction, you will want to have a peek. We welcome your thoughts and opinions.
The 2nd project of my PhD work is now live. We showed strong associations of plant-derived metabolite trimethyllysine and rhizobiome function, on mechanisms of rhizosphere recruitment and the microbial capacity to enhance plant's drought stress resilience

Just like that, the GRS/GRC Microbial Toxins and Pathogenicity meeting comes to a close! So happy I was able to catch up with old friends and create new ones! See everyone in 2 years!
We are so proud of @MicrobeRich for pushing through and seeing her 2nd chapter to completion šŖ!! Please go and check out her amazing work on Eubacterium rectale relieving gut epithelium ROS damage!
Beyond thrilled to see my 2nd Chapter hot off the presses! This project examines Eubacterium rectale for alleviation of gut epithelium ROS damage through biosynthesis of the antioxidant glutathione. Check it out! (1/2)@KStateResearch@kstatebio#microbiomebiorxiv.org/content/10.1101/ā¦

This work also highlights the potential of microbial products to reduce colonic cell inflammation and ROS levels in addition to identifying several microbial products also known to influence repair. #IBD#gut#holobiont@KStateArtSci
Two of the Lee Labās undergraduates presented posters at the Johnson Cancer Research Centerās Awards Banquet. Carson presented his research on Lachnospiraceae derived glutathione and its effects on relieving inflammation from Caco-2 cells.
