FUN FACT FRIDAY: Holmes had highest stolen base total for Polk State Softball in 12 years
A native of Lake Hamilton and a former standout at Haines City High School, Calonnie Holmes served as the table setter for Polk State Softball as a freshman in 2026. A second-team All-Citrus Conference selection, Holmes hit for average, power and was dependable in the field.
Another key element to Holmes' game, however, is her blazing speed. This past season, Holmes led the Eagles with 29 stolen bases. That was good for 13th in the FCSAA, but for Polk State, it was the most the program had gotten from an individual player in more than a decade.
Prior to this past season, no one had swiped that many bags for the Eagles since Rose Stevens led the FCSAA and set a Polk State record with 64 steals in 2014. In addition to the 29 stolen bases, Holmes hit .347 as a freshman with nine home runs and 32 RBIs. Holmes also led the Eagles with 60 hits, 44 runs scored and five triples.
