Goodbye. I am about to embark on the creation of several videos that will cause many to think that I’m off base, compromised, unspiritual, attacking the church, or otherwise not worthwhile anymore. I know this is going to happen but I’m proceeding anyways. Why? Because I think that accountability for villains in church leadership is important and God honoring. It honors God to defend the victims. It honors God to expose such deeds that the church would be unleavened. It honors God to refuse to participate in or tolerate false miracles, false prophecies, false leaders, oppressive systems, “elitist leaders” cultures, and unbiblical teachings. The problem is that accountability hasn’t come from within the movements that need it. Instead, movements like IHOPKC, Bethel, Morningstar, and others have enabled such abuses and blocked proper accountability. So it falls on the wider church to speak up and protect people. For those who will say that they have been blessed by my ministry before this and now are checking out, just know that I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of God blessing you in some way. I understand that what I’m about to do can be seen as divisive, extreme, and unnecessary, especially to those who haven’t talked to the victims of such predators and false leaders. I don’t anticipate being able to convince the majority that what I’m doing is good and needful. Know that I am grateful for the chance to have ministered to you in the past and that I am doing my best to do what’s right and God-honoring in the future. When you think about it, Jeremiah and a number of OT prophets were dealing with opposition from those who basically thought they were being unnecessarily negative, divisive, and ungracious. Goodbye to those who will no longer view or support my content. I’m grateful I could help in the past and regret that this future project will inevitably result in me looking like an ungodly villain in your eyes.

Is it strange that only after hearing Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is really poorly done that I am interested in watching it? I admit it. I find analyzing badly done films very interesting. I’d rather watch a great film or a really bad one than the middling ones.

For those who have seen it, is Disclosure Day “so bad it’s good” or not?

Follow David Fish if you want to hear more about how Brian Simmons, with the help of charismatic leaders like Bill Johnson, made multiple millions of dollars with his fraudulent Passion Translation of the Bible. Brian didn’t have the education, experience, or skill. He had Bill.
The video has long since been deleted, but in an interview with Jonathan Welton (yes, that Jonathan Welton), Brian Simmons openly stated that he didn't know Greek or Hebrew but that the Lord "really helped" him. Brian wanted the world to believe that he supernaturally translated original languages into a "brand new translation." But the language is frequently lifted from paraphrases written up to 50 years before TPT.

Disclosure Day appears to have been just a bit overhyped. That fits well with the general theme of disclosure over the recent past.

I hope Tyndale is currently tasking their team to find all the examples of copying. It seems that Brian Simmons especially likes to copy content from @Tyndale_House publications.

In short, Brian Simmons is a delusional, lying hack. And his translation butchers the word of God based on false claims of revelation and linguistic insights. In the example below Brian copies a false claim that sources not from study or revelation but from a man who shows deep signs of delusion himself. Bill Johnson was just a little bit off when he endorsed TPT and said it was one of the best things to happen in Bible translation in his lifetime. Yet Bill’s endorsement sure led to a lot of sales for TPT and after TPT was exposed YEARS ago they just doubled down on it and served their people up to the Bible twisting personal enrichment of Brian Simmons. Flee Bethel.
Today's Daily Smoking Gun of plagiarism in the Passion Translation comes in Philippians 3:19. Instead of the words "their god is their belly" which appear in all other translations, TPT (2013) gives "their god has possessed them and made them mute."

I've actually had @Literal_Word installed on my phone for quite a while, but now I'm joining @MikeWingerii and boycotting @YouVersion until they remove The Passion "translation." And that's a big step, because I've had YouVersion's Bible app as my main Bible app for nearly twenty years. I'm moving Literal Word into that spot. It was already a very good app, but I also love that they're taking advantage of this moment to make it even better.
The NKJV has arrived on the @literal_word app and website! • Fully formatted New King James Version (NKJV) bible text and official footnotes • Includes integrated Hebrew/Greek lexicons and cross-references • Still 100% free with no ads 👇 Download the app or read online

Should every Christian work miracles and prophesy? I think this passage implies that according to the will of God (not lack of faith or spirituality in the person) not all Christians do these things. 1 Cor 12 has some rhetorical questions that weigh in on this. These rhetorical questions seem to require a “no” based on the larger context of the passage being about how we are all different. This means all are not prophets. All are not workers of miracles. All do not speak in tongues. “Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?” — 1 Corinthians 12:29-30 I know I haven’t made the whole case here and you’re welcome to disagree. But I wanted to encourage you to go and sit with that passage and the larger context and think about how to rightly interpret it.

This exposure of The Passion Translation provides another wonderful opportunity to remind people of the three steps of Hyper-Charismatic Cover-Up Culture: Step #1: Deny the scandal exists. Step #2: If step 1 fails, tell people. "the ACTUAL scandal is you talking publicly about the scandal." Step #3: If steps 1-2 have failed, tell people "The ACTUAL scandal is the WAY you're talking about the scandal." Anything to avoid what the objective facts say: that the scandal itself is the actual scandal, not the fact that it's being exposed.

The Passion Translation even copy/pastes a spelling error from the spurious and heretical work The Mirror Bible. Wow. So, to be clear, he not only plagiarizes the work of others but does so from the heretical Bible translation of a guy who doesn’t know the original languages either. As if that wasn’t enough he includes a spelling error from that work. All of this while telling audiences that God is supernaturally revealing secrets of Hebrew and Greek to him.
How do we know for SURE that Brian Simmons has been plagiarizing in the Passion Translation? One example of hundreds: in Hebrews 9:10, Brian plagiarizes a footnote from Francois du Toit's "Mirror Bible", including a SPELLING ERROR in the transliteration of a Greek word. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

YouVersion not only carries The Passion Translation after YEARS of it being exposed as sectarian, unreliable (according to numerous respected Christian scholars), misleading, and recently being exposed even more as not even being translated in many places but copied and pasted from other works, they also promote it with ads as recently as today. This isn’t just a translation I don’t like. It would be childish to make such a stink over that. It’s an affront to the Word of God and the people of God. If you think I am overreacting I would just let ask you to consider doing a bit of research first.

The profoundness, moral wisdom, and perfection of this commandment continually astounds me. Mark 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

The sheer ignorance displayed by Joshua here is only trumped by how confident he is about it. Ironically, the only one who spotted “one error, and throw away the entire thing” is Joshua here when he mischaracterizes me and roundly condemns me based on this single distortion.

Bill said he didn’t preach from The Passion Translation. Then he did.
This is a recent clip of Bill Johnson preaching from the Passion Translation and praising the footnotes. The only problem? The footnote of the passage Bill is quoting is plagiarized from p. 599 of a book by Glenn David Bauscher (image below) and the second half is plagiarized from the website of a fringe filmmaker named Victor Alexander. Brian Simmons gets the praise (and financial reward) from the Bethel platform, while the authors whose work he stole do not. The Passion Translation is still sold on the Bethel website and bookstore.

Bye bye YouVersion. People generally expect you to only host decent and safe Bible translations. At least that’s what I expect. I’d recommend using caution if you still use the YouVersion Bible app.
