My bond with @IsaAshiruKudan isn't just about politics itโ€™s a father-son relationship. Rest assured, we will give him every ounce of support needed to remove this failed government and right the wrongs of an acute betrayal by his former mentee.

The Myth of June 12, El-Rufai, APC Primaries: Why Governor Uba Sani Has No Right to Celebrate Democracy As Nigerians commemorated June 12 and reflected on the sacrifices made for democratic governance, Governor Uba Sani joined many political leaders in celebrating Democracy Day. Yet for many observers in Kaduna, the celebration exposed a troubling contradiction. June 12 was not merely about elections; it was about defending civil liberties, protecting dissent, and resisting the abuse of state power. Those who invoke its legacy must be measured not by their speeches but by their actions. Governor Uba Sani frequently reminds Nigerians of his role in the pro-democracy struggle, but many believe the current realities in Kaduna stand in sharp contrast to those ideals. Critics point to the continued political pressure on opposition figures, the targeting of individuals associated with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and the growing perception that state institutions are being used to weaken political opponents rather than strengthen democratic accountability. A democracy thrives when opposing voices are protected, not when they are intimidated into silence. The concerns do not stop there. Under the current administration, Kaduna's electronic electoral framework, once celebrated as a major transparency reform, was repealed. At the same time, complaints of candidate imposition and lack of internal democracy have emerged across several political zones in the state. Democracy loses its meaning when party primaries become mere formalities and political participation is restricted to those approved by powerful interests. The true spirit of June 12 lives in fairness, inclusion, competition, and respect for fundamental rights. Democracy is not a television interview, a press statement, or an annual celebration. It is reflected in how governments treat critics, how institutions protect rights, and how political parties conduct their affairs. Until those democratic values are fully reflected in Kaduna's political landscape, many citizens will continue to question whether those celebrating June 12 are truly honoring its legacy or merely borrowing its language. @jrnaib2 @ishakaa @HAHayatu @ComradeAI @mareeyama @AM_Saleeeem @AliyuKwarbai @___Bils @NuhuSada0 @Pharmacio001 @ADCVanguard_

Isn't this the same guy they used to send to negotiate during the early days of this administration in Kaduna? We can't be enabling banditry behind the scenes (or at the altar) and then turn around to claim we're angry about their activities

Democracy Day As we commemorate Democracy Day, we celebrate a system that, despite its imperfections, remains the surest path to stability, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable national development. Democracy has strengthened our institutions, expanded civic participation, preserved national unity, and created an environment where economic growth and innovation can flourish. Nigeria's democratic journey has demonstrated that progress is best achieved through dialogue, the ballot box, and the collective will of the people. Every election, every peaceful transfer of power, and every citizen's vote reinforces the foundations of a stronger and more prosperous nation. On this auspicious occasion, I extend my goodwill to the people of Kaduna State and acknowledge the enduring commitment of Isa Ashiru Kudan to democratic ideals, good governance, and the welfare of the people. Democracy provides every worthy leader with the opportunity to earn the trust of the electorate and present a vision for a better future. It is through this noble process that capable leaders emerge and transformative change becomes possible. As Kaduna continues its journey towards greater prosperity, security, and social harmony, many remain hopeful that the democratic process will open the way for leadership that is inclusive, compassionate, and development-oriented. May our democracy continue to mature, and may it deliver the better Kaduna and greater Nigeria that our people deserve. Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria. Long live Kaduna State. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

DEMOCRACY DAY STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF RT. HON. ISAH MUHAMMAD ASHIRU KUDAN As Nigerians mark Democracy Day, Rt. Hon. Isah Muhammad Ashiru Kudan has called on citizens to reflect not only on the significance of June 12, but also on the values and principles that gave the day its enduring place in our national history. He noted that , democracy is founded on the principles of justice, freedom, accountability, political inclusion, and respect for the rule of law. These ideals must remain the guiding compass of our national journey if democracy is to deliver meaningful benefits to the people. He noted that while Democracy Day is a moment of celebration, it is also a time for honest reflection. The continued incarceration of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, he observed, raises important questions about the state of democratic freedoms and due process in Nigeria. Regardless of political differences, a healthy democracy must create room for dissenting voices and guarantee fairness under the law. โ€œJune 12 symbolizes the triumph of democratic ideals over authoritarian tendencies. Any development that appears to undermine those ideals should concern all lovers of democracy, irrespective of political affiliation,โ€ Ashiru stated. He reaffirmed the commitment of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to promoting a democratic culture built on tolerance, justice, inclusion, and respect for fundamental rights. He emphasized that the struggle for democracy did not end with the restoration of civilian rule, but continues through the daily effort to strengthen institutions and protect the rights of citizens. The 2027 kaduna ADC gubernatorial candidate further stressed that the ultimate purpose of democracy is to improve the lives of ordinary people. He pledged that under the ADC, the focus would remain on ensuring that the people of Kaduna State enjoy the true dividends of democracy through better governance, economic opportunities, quality education, improved healthcare, and greater security. As the nation commemorates Democracy Day, he urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their belief that a better, fairer, and more democratic society is possible.

DEMOCRACY DAY IT IS. As the nation marks another year of democratic governance, it is important to reflect not only on how far we have come, but also on how far we still have to go. While many are being captivated by the narrative surrounding the so-called bandits threatening our communities, there remains a man who has continued to languish in detention at the hands of what many would describe as urban bandits, those who wield power and influence from the comfort of offices rather than the forests. Democracy is not merely about elections, ceremonies, speeches, or public holidays. It is about the protection of fundamental rights, adherence to the rule of law, accountability, and equal justice for all. It is about ensuring that no individual is deprived of liberty without due process and that institutions remain stronger than personal interests. A democracy loses its moral authority when the law is applied selectively. When justice becomes dependent on status, political affiliation, or convenience, the very principles upon which democracy stands begin to erode. Today, as we celebrate Democracy Day, we must also remember that true democracy demands courage, the courage to speak against injustice regardless of who the victim is, the courage to defend the rule of law even when it is inconvenient, and the courage to hold those in power accountable. The measure of any democracy is not how it treats the powerful, but how it treats the powerless; not how loudly it celebrates freedom, but how faithfully it protects it. Until justice is seen to be done, until the rule of law prevails over the rule of might, and until every citizen enjoys the protections guaranteed by the constitution, our celebration of democracy remains incomplete. MAY NIGERIA NOT HAPPEN TO US #FreeOurChildren #JusticeAndDueProcess Ibrahim Nuhu ATK.

DEMOCRACY DAY REFLECTION: WHAT THE EL-RUFAI CONTROVERSY MEANS FOR THE RULE OF LAW As we celebrate Democracy Day today, I find myself reflecting on what democracy truly means beyond elections, campaigns, and political victories. To me, democracy is about justice, fairness, accountability, and respect for the rights of every citizen. The ongoing detention of Mallam Nasir @ElRufai continues to raise important questions about the strength of our democratic institutions and our commitment to the rule of law. Regardless of political affiliations or personal opinions, we believe every Nigerian deserves fair treatment, due process, and the protection of their constitutional rights. A healthy democracy is one where institutions act independently, justice is administered without fear or favour, and citizens can trust that the law applies equally to everyone. These are the values that sustain democratic governance and preserve public confidence. On this Democracy Day, We join millions of Nigerians in hoping for a nation where justice remains impartial, where accountability is balanced with fairness, and where our democratic principles are upheld at all times. The true test of democracy is not how we treat those who agree with us, but how we uphold the rights of those with whom we may disagree. Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.
