Heartfelt congratulations to the government & people of #Uganda 🇺🇬 for ending the #Ebola outbreak. Thanks to the robust response by @MinofHealthUG local & national institutions, @WHO & partners, Uganda reached this milestone less than 4 months after the first case was confirmed.
Great discussion with Dr Fauci this week. We spoke about the need for stronger & more inclusive emergency preparedness, response & resilience everywhere in order to make the world safe🌍 Always a pleasure to share insights & learnings.
And that’s a wrap on another great Regional Committee #RC72AFRO with important decisions made after a rich exchange on pandemic readiness, resilience, reaching everyone in our region with the promotion of good #health, prevention & access to services.

The detection of another case of wild #polio virus in Africa is greatly concerning, even if it’s not unexpected given the recent outbreak in Malawi. We're supporting govts carry out large-scale vaccination campaigns to halt the virus & protect children from its damaging impacts.
Heath authorities in #Mozambique today declared an outbreak of wild #poliovirus type 1 after confirming that a child in the country’s north-eastern Tete province had contracted the disease. So far, just one case in Mozambique has been detected.

The WG on Sustainable Financing successfully concluded with a clear aspiration to increase @WHO assessed contributions to 50% of the base budget, following up on key recommendation of the @TheIndPanel. 👏
