The tough thing about seeing so many amazing picture books promoted on X is that our school doesn’t give me a budget, and our $1300 in hard earned Scholastic bookfair proceeds also needs to replace the $750 in books kids never returned.
Still taking screen shots of favorites!
New idea!
Relying on friends to post book reviews has left HEROES NEED HELP with only one review.
So - how about #querying authors who want an elementary school librarian’s perspective on their manuscript?
Would you want to say nice things about my book?
If so, DMs are open.
So happy for this fun illustrator and her beautiful book. (I am a text-focused author librarian opening her heart to art focused stories. Thanks for showing me the light!) ❤️
Happy #KidLitArtPostcard day! I am celebrating today with my little characters from my newly released book, CLAUDE! We are celebrating over here with 3 Starred Reviews! I LOVE #KidLit and plan to continue creating children's art for as long as possible! @KTerrette
Learned something fun today! HEROES NEED HELP had 6 orders in Germany.
#kidlit#chemo#cancer
I hope they do reviews. The book needs people to say nice things about it, and a review from another country would have been a bingo square if I had thought of it.

We wrote what we know best, supporting chemo kids & their friends.
HEROES NEED HELP needs reviews to help families find it. It is available at your favorite online retailer & we want it to be available at your favorite indie too. Please help us make that happen! #chemo#cancer
#Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month Insight…
When a patient is in the thick of things with a tumor, MRIs every 3 months are standard to see if the treatments are working - or did work.
Spacing them to 6 months is a win.
But 6 week MRIs show that even the specialists are worried.
I just got a call that my copy is in at my favorite indie, 42 miles away. I’ll be passing through that town before and after business hours tomorrow. 😢
3 years in the making. Claude is finally out in the world today! 🎉 So excited to share my newest picture book! Grab your copy at your favorite local bookstore (if it’s not on the shelves, just ask them to order it!). Let’s keep our kids reading! 📖💛 #teachers#librarians
Adding HEROES NEED HELP to a library circulation system brings #LibrarianJoy. In addition to being a much needed topic, the barcodes fit without covering words or illustrations. 🙂
Plus it is in WorldCat and has MARC records - including the image. #Book#Cancer#chemo#kidlit
What I’m reading in the library this week…
HEROES NEED HELP is now officially a book and my 2nd graders are ready to grasp its empathy & sadness.
For TK-1st I’m reading EVIE’S FIELD DAY by @claireannette.bsky.social & Alicia Teba. With field day coming up, it’s perfect. #kidlit
#Kidlit shouldn’t teach?
Has a surgeon ever signed your head with a sharpie?
Or a friend’s?
Or family member’s?
When a medical crisis hits, we crave didactic books that help us learn and feel seen.
That help our friends better understand.
Books that help us feel joy.

Today I am especially grateful that #kidlit postcard is the same day my son’s neurosurgeon is in the operating room. So many of my waiting days have been passed with the uplift found in the writing community. Anyone remember #cookiepitch? It was on MRI days. @MarkSpuddle
Teacher appreciation lunch when the five 2nd grade teachers are on a field trip with their classes. That showed how well my district notices and plans.
