‼️‼️‼️PLEASE SHARE‼️‼️‼️ Since midnight, we’ve responded to 3 carbon monoxide calls in homes due to high winds blowing snow and blocking exterior vents. One home recorded carbon monoxide readings of over 200 parts per million (PPM). Please check your vents and clear snow if needed. #Ottawa #OttNews #OttCity

Have you tried greeting your students at the door? Simple words of greetings and encouragement can dramatically improve classroom dynamics. ☀️

"When I like the teacher, I want to do their work. And I'll be like, 'I can learn this.'" Students who feel safe and supported by adults at school are better able to learn, research shows. #HowLearningHappens

There’s something so exciting about brand new teachers’ classrooms and watching them get it ready all summer long. So much wonder. So much self-drive. So much innocence. The sad part is when we see a new teacher lose that because they don’t feel supported during their first year. Support your new teachers. 🔺Check on them daily. 🔸Model lessons for them. 🔺Provide them an automatic coaching cycle with the instructional coach on day 1. 🔸Provide specific feedback. 🔺Model the first phone call home. 🔸Pre-plan their first parent conf and do it with them. 🔺Simply ask, “How can I help?” And ask often. Teachers will be more likely to stay in the profession when they feel supported. Plain and simple. What did I miss?

Educators build legacies through their work and in how they impact their learners. They touch countless lives and can impact families and communities, or they may leave legacies of innovation and professional practices, impacting Education. What is your legacy? #CelebrateMonday
