After reading ‘Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics’ by @pgliljedahl - here are the first graders using vertical non permanent surfaces to show their thinking.
How can we use models to show our thinking in mathematics?
Thanks for the book recommendation @mathsmakesense !
We don’t give math homework but parents are always asking how they can support at home. Here are some engaging and educational games for them to play together, anytime, anywhere!

It’s here! Hoping I beat @JAdamsLux and @KerynDowling to the first copy to make it to Luxembourg 😜 Looking forward to another inspiring read by the marvelous @kjinquiry 🥳
Grade 1BC is currently obsessed with pop up books, so we decided we should inquire into how to make them to show our understanding of our UOI - Home is Where the Heart is 🥰

When you go down to visit @LouNerd3 in Early Years and are reminded of @kjinquiry “Play is the purest form of inquiry”
Important that this applies to First Grade too!

This year I’ve been working on my @canva skills to build parent and community understanding of what learning looks like in EY. Sharing these infographics in response to student learning has really strengthened our home school partnerships.

Tell me you’re a PYP school without telling me you’re a PYP school…

Today we looked for patterns in the hundred chart
After, the Ss self differentiated by choosing to use the chart to help complete puzzles. I asked how it felt to use their knowledge of patterns to solve the puzzles, one S whispered “powerful” 🥳

We’ve been exploring how art can convey a message and how sometimes the title can give us a hint of what the artist might have been thinking or feeling.
Here is 1BC’s collaborative artwork inspired by Howardena Pindell called ‘Who We Are Together’ 💜

Awesome G1 art morning! Thanks for inviting me @MsCollishaw! Enjoyed assisting a group of artists in creating 3D representations of famous paintings in the Makerspace @ISLuxembourg#ISLuxLS
Hi @haleshannon
We love your books about the Princess in Black! We were feeling inspired and wrote our own version and one day maybe you can come and visit us in Luxembourg @ISLuxembourg
Love, Grade 1BC
Just finished the amazing course ‘Building Addition for Young Learners’ with @pwharris and would highly recommend it to all Early Years math teachers.
Hoping that one day we can learn from you in person in Luxembourg!

Preface: “take the passions of young children seriously and honor them in the context of daily classroom life.” 🧵
Slow progress as each sentence is oozing with wisdom to reflect on!

Ch 1: “Leading with inquiry means we value our adult learners; we lean in, listen more, and talk less.” 🧵
Feeling inspired already @jess_vanceEDU 🥳
Considering how I model this in my own context both as a leader and a learner. It’s so important to model to the students that staff are always learning and to model to my team that I don’t always have all the answers. Reflecting on how to make our shared thinking visible👇🏻👇🏻2/3
Aiming toward creating a collaborative staff display where we can co-construct meaning, share ideas, and inspire each other to help us achieve our shared goal. Would love to see how others have displayed staff thinking and learning… 3/3
