Today, I spoke as part of the annual UN Commission on the Status of Women, discussing government economy policy, workplace discrimination, gendered labour, and more. In front of #CSW68 delegates, policymakers, and stakeholders, we explored the actions - big and small - needed for a more equitable economy. What an honour!🙏🏾

The government is considering removing disabled children’s right to support (education, health and care plans). We’ve been told a white paper is due any time. We urgently need your help to get this petition to 100,000 to get a debate in Parliament. 1/2 petition.parliament.uk/petit…

It’s been half a year since the UK experienced the worst racist riots in decades, and the return to office-presenteeism has left parents, carers, & disabled people casualties to “business as usual.” The UK may not be the US, but we’re not immune to progress being undone. [3/4]

i know people always say "the most important thing is that you're safe" or "those are just things" but homes are full of memories and represent years of savings, hard work and stability for many. there's so much grief in that loss

Prisons don’t provide incarcerated Deaf people with ASL interpreters. They suffer as a result. In a DC jail, a Deaf man didn't eat for 2 weeks because he couldn't hear the announcements to eat. He spent over 2 months in jail over an iPad he never stole, and the witness recanted.

My unpopular opinion is that folk at the imperial core who are newly learning about anticolonial struggles need to pause their imperial views stated with loud imperial hubris because work of learning is done in silence and must be done in humility 1/2
Extremely unpopular opinion (I suspect): hakas will not get Maori people their rights, just as Debka won't work for Palestinians. Anger, direct action, strikes, and serious disruptions will. There are very clear rules for effective political struggle, and indigenous culture is for indigenous people. It is lost on colonizers, and its very presence in a filthy colonizer parliament disgraces it

Important thread:
Ofsted inspectors telling EY teachers that their planning isn’t detailed enough because they don’t write down all the vocabulary that they’re going to teach is really not ok. I’ve now heard of several cases where when the teacher says they teach vocabulary the inspector has said

This was upsetting to read. I hope, in whatever remedy arises from this, emotional/psychological support for this teenage girl is accounted for. Humiliation, particularly gendered humiliation like this, can take a lot of time to recover from.

This sums up the plight of the self-representing person (litigant in person) well, even in #UKemplaw. To quote the Judicial College, they are "operating in an alien environment in what for them is a foreign language[...]". Think the cost of that access to justice crisis.

I can relate to soooo much of this. This is just so sad. I state the reason for 90% of my objections, but not saying "Objection--lack of foundation" when he saw she didn't know how to authenticate or admit the photo was a smart, strategic play. It's just a horrible situation.
