There is no reason for math to be painful! Time drills can cause stress. Have students race themselves and record improvement over time.

Plan lessons 4 student success. Use friendly numbers with new material. Use small sets of targeted facts to build fluency incrementally.

Mental Math- a component of literacy. Practice it daily with students. 1 1/2 times a number is all of the number and 1/2 of it more.
