The 'swollen' phenotype was from epididymal tubule breakdown and cell infiltration and was accompanied by many gene changes. Interestingly, while offspring of germ-free dads didn't show the severe swollen epididymis, they shared many epididymal gene changes.

🔥🔥 A modest increase in temp doesn't affect sperm functionality but does alter sperm small RNAs, embryo dev and gene expression in mice plus more. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.24…
