Care workers kept Scotland going during COVID, but 5 years on, they’re still underpaid & undervalued. 📍 Holyrood, 27th March, 11 AM @theSNP @ScottishLabour @scottishgreens @scotlibdems @ScotTories – will you stand with them in solidarity? #careworkersmatter

Women’s Pay Day 🚨 | As of yesterday, women have worked the first 48 days of 2025 for free due to the gender pay gap. This gap persists even in female-dominated sectors like care: 🏦 Finance – 109 days (until 19th April) 💻 Tech – 61 days (until 3rd March) 💙 Care – 41 days (until 9th Feb) It’s even worse for older women: 👩‍💼 40s – 60 days (until 2nd March) 👩‍🦳 50s – 69 days (until 11th March) 👵 60 – 64 days (until 6th March) The Employment Rights Bill can help close the gap by banning exploitative zero-hours contracts that hit women hardest. Women drive our economy — they deserve fair pay.

Today our @HC_One committee members met with the company CEO to sign the #dyingtowork charter. Proud day for our reps - who now work for the first care company in the country to publicly sign a commitment to support their colleagues when they are terminally ill @The_TUC @GMBCare

Today @GMBCare met civil servants working on the Fair Pay Agreement Consultation. This was their first meeting of unionised workers in care & GMB and Unison activists came together to show how we work together to achieve a better standard of work, with workers at its heart.

Care workers do an incredible job, and they deserve to be paid properly and treated fairly. That means being able to afford to take time off when sick - not spreading illness or falling into debt. Great to join our members in HC One on their “Sick of SSP” campaign day. 🤒

We've had a brilliant day delivering our members sick notes to HC-One. #SickPay = Healthy Care. Care Sector Workers deserve to be able to take time off sick without worry of poverty and to have paid breaks to support their wellbeing. #SickofSSP

News from the Employment Rights Bill Committee... The Conservatives just voted against the School Support Staff Negotiating Body (SSSNB). The 1,800 school support staff in Bham Northfield will want to know why the Tories think they shouldn't be entitled to decent contracts.

Porters, domestics and catering staff are key to the safe running of our NHS - they deserve to be treated with respect. 🏥 Outsourced workers at 5 South London hospitals protested outside of ISS HQ today calling for better pay, safer staffing and an end to the bullying.

Proper sick pay would mean financial security for care workers when they’re unwell. It would also help to protect residents, colleagues and the NHS from the spread of viruses. 🦠
