The National Health Accounts Estimates 2022-23 released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reflects remarkable progress in our healthcare financing. ​Government Health Expenditure has nearly tripled, rising from ₹1.30 lakh crore in 2013-14 to a whopping ₹3.85 lakh crore in 2022-23. Celebrating a Milestone in Quality Healthcare! The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) proudly announces the successful completion of the 50th Batch of External Assessors Training on National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), held from 20th to 25th April 2026. This landmark batch witnessed enthusiastic participation from representatives across 21 States and Union Territories, reflecting a strong, collective commitment towards strengthening quality in public healthcare systems across the country. The training was formally inaugurated by Sh. Sibin C, Joint Secretary (Policy), National Health Mission (NHM), MoHFW, whose presence and guidance set the tone for a week of insightful learning, collaboration, and capacity building. He also informed the implementation of the National Security Cess Act, 2025, which has come into force from 1st February 2026. Under this provision, funds will be made available to States/UTs in a challenge mode as performance-based incentives upon meeting stipulated criteria under NQAS. He further emphasized that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has set the target of achieving 100% NQAS-certified facilities across the country by December 2026, reinforcing the Government’s strong commitment towards institutionalizing quality in healthcare delivery. Dr. Rajiv Pathni, Advisor, Quality and Patient Safety Division, NHSRC, in his welcome address highlighted the aims and objectives of the training and also encouraged the participants to be the ambassadors for quality in the country and contribute to building a culture of quality and patient safety in healthcare. Over the course of six days, participants engaged in intensive sessions and exercises designed to enhance their competencies and were also exposed to practical assessment methodology through field visits. Reaching the 50th batch of NQAS External Assessor Training is a significant milestone that underscores NHSRC’s sustained efforts in building a robust pool of skilled external assessors dedicated to advancing quality assurance in healthcare. NHSRC participated in the Post Budget Webinar on the theme “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas-Fulfilling Aspirations of People” organised by PMO on 9th March, 2026 via video conferencing. Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, delivered the special address during the Webinar highlighting the crucial role of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Ayushman Arogya Mandir in expanding healthcare services to villages. Under the theme of the Webinar, multiple breakout sessions were organised across sectors including health and AYUSH, education and skilling, tourism and hospitality among others. A day long workshop on ‘Quality of Care’ in dialysis was organized jointly by MoHFW and NHSRC on 23rd December 2025. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest - Ms Aradhana Patnaik, AS&MD, NHM, who emphasized the role of infection prevention & control (IPC) practices in dialysis units, NQAS certification and prevention of chronic kidney diseases (CKD). Shri Saurabh Jain, JS(P), MoHFW in his special address to the participants, encouraged them to strategize three actionable points on IPC practices at the dialysis units in their respective State/UT for implementation. A total of 33 participants from 20 States/UTs including the State Quality Managers and dialysis Nodal officers interacted and shared their views on best quality management practices with the objective to strengthen the quality of care in dialysis service delivery. Through this workshop, NHSRC reaffirms its commitment to advancing a culture of quality, safety and accountability in dialysis service delivery nationwide.
