Churchgate - Virar - 83 kms - 1 hour 30 mins CST - Kalyan - 60 kms - 57 mins CST - Panvel - 47 kms - 1 hour 33 mins The airport and panvel terminus are getting ready in the next few years, for them to be successful the harbour line capacity needs to be augmented in a huge way.
Major failures daily in the harbour line with no plan for any capacity addition or alternative mass transit. With the airport incoming and loads of mass housing projects, it is an urgent need to plan a fast line and other metro connectivity between NM and rest of MMR.

One more lane will fix it
Connecting Atal Setu to Eastern free way has made our lives more difficult than any good.. this is a everyday scene of freeway during peak office hours. Kindly resolve this issue. What is the use of having freeway then? @nitin_gadkari @NHMPofficial @Dev_Fadnavis @MumbaiPolice

Finally complete!! WDFC! Congrats @dfccil_india And now it's time to run more passenger trains on the panvel-diva-vasai route now that a lot of container traffic(maybe 50%) would've moved to the DFC!! Do it @Central_Railway @WesternRly @rajtoday
A proud and historic moment for DFCCIL! The successful trial run of freight trains marks the completion of the entire Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) on 31st March 2026, with operations carried out on the JNPT–New Saphale (Vaitarna) section. A container train in the down direction (JNPT → New Saphale) departed at 11:50 hrs, hauled by an electric locomotive, while in the up direction (New Saphale → JNPT), a container train also departed at 11:50 hrs, powered by a diesel locomotive. Conducted under the leadership of Sh. Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL, this trial run signifies the operational readiness of the critical 102 km balance section of the WDFC. It marks a major milestone towards commissioning the corridor for freight operations and demonstrates that the newly commissioned high-rise electrified, high-capacity double-line infrastructure is fully prepared for seamless and efficient movement of goods. The occasion was graced by Sh. Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director/OP&BD; Sh. Anurag Sharma, Director/Infrastructure; Sh. M. K. Awasthy, ED/Infrastructure; Sh. Sandesh Srivastava, ED/Projects; Sh. Vikas Srivastava, GGM/S&T; Sh. Ran Vijay Singh, GGM/Electrical; Sh. Amit Saurastri, GM/CC; and Sh. H. G. Tiwari, CGM/Mumbai, along with other senior officers and the dedicated DFCCIL team. This achievement will add a new chapter to India’s logistics landscape—unlocking faster port connectivity, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and enabling greener, more reliable freight movement. The full commissioning of WDFC marks a transformative step in strengthening the nation’s logistics backbone and accelerating economic growth. With uninterrupted end-to-end connectivity now established, train operations will become significantly more efficient, requiring fewer sets (2 sets) of crew between New Makarpura and New JNPT due to reduced operational handovers and streamlined running. Additionally, freight trains will experience a reduction of nearly four hours in transit time, enabling faster turnaround of rolling stock, improved asset utilization, enhanced schedule reliability, and greater capacity for handling increased freight volumes. #DFCCIL #WDFC #FreightCorridor #JNPT #LogisticsRevolution #RailInfrastructure #NewIndia #Milestone

Palm beach has great rain trees at the edges and cycling track, but for median choosing palm for some miami type feel is ridic. Might be all cut for that elevated road planned from Thane.

Most of these app buses are shuttling around harbour line and CR jurisdictions because they didn't augment their capacities to make it faster and safer to travel. Having 10-15% ridership of local trains is a big deal and a failure of the suburban rail system, not the bus system
For decades, the image of Mumbai's office commute has been the same. Packed local trains. But for a growing number of white-collar workers, the last leg of that journey now looks very different. As BEST's fleet shrinks and last-mile gaps widen, app-based services like Cityflo and Chalo are stepping in with a simple promise of a guaranteed seat, a fixed schedule & no surprises. The train gets them most of the way. Premium AC buses handle the final piece. There is **no** Mumbai local to BKC, it's right between WR and CR lines, because Railway Board over the years refused to add any new railway lines to the Mumbai Suburban system!
I travelled by Mumbai Local to BKC today. Not because I had to, but because I chose to. If each of us makes this choice once a week, together we can make a real difference. Have you travelled by public transport today? #PublicTransportDay #BKCmovestogether @MMRDAOfficial

How many new outstation trains are going to come on CR and WR due to this? Need to keep a track. Vasai panvel memu trains also should double at the very least
Milestone. Western DFC opens for commercial operations. 10 June 2026. Western DFC connects Dadri (Uttar Pradesh) to JNPT in Mumbai. The Eastern DFC stretching from Ludhiana (Punjab) to Dankuni (West Bengal) is already operational.

Palm beach road needs to change the trees to something denser and useful instead of palms
India’s boiling, and babus are out here planting palm trees like we’re prepping for a Miami beach party. Ever heard of Rain Trees?

Step 1: Tell 2 lakh people to give up their cars Step 2: Do nothing about the terrible last mile connectivity - metro stations far off from the offices, no metered rickshaws, etc Step 3: Launch it right as the monsoon hits. Step 4: Call it a "first-of-its-kind initiative" in the press Genius.
Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), one of India's most congested business hubs, has launched what authorities are calling a first-of-its-kind initiative for any corporate district in the country, a car-free Friday. Nearly 2,00,000 professionals working in BKC are being strongly encouraged to take the train, metro or bus every Friday instead of driving or booking a cab

There is infinite demand on this route if it touches kanjurmarg, mmrda instead delays it to make the first phase where demand will be negligible
Mumbai Metro Line 14 (Kanjurmarg–Badlapur) may be developed in two phases, with the Shilphata–Badlapur stretch prioritized first. #MMRDA is studying possibility of sharing nearly 10km of route with #Metro12A while also considering an EPC model in place of earlier PPP plan #Mumbai

BKC's last-mile problem has stumped Mumbai for years. MMRDA thinks pod taxis (small automated cabins gliding above traffic) are the answer. But the math gives experts pause: at full capacity, the system moves 48K people a day. BKC sees up to 6 lakh. Is this a genuine transit solution or an expensive experiment that solves too little? @sabahvir asked experts: indianexpress.com/article/ci… via @IndianExpress

Bus depots are the next public good to be auctioned off. The process has started
Where are the buses to be maintained in those depots? Boasting about improvement of BEST by improving depots (and staying quiet about all time low fleet) is the most tone deaf thing one can do right now

Instead just mandate them to use sewage treated water especially in urban areas where we are dumping god awful amounts of barely treated sewage into rivers and seas
All this debate about water requirement for data centres and how it will drain the ground water dry, my only question is, why do we even need to use ground water for data center cooling? Why can't we place them along the coast and then use deslainated sea water? It's not as if we are running out of the sea

Fact that neither airport in Mumbai has hi-frequency dedicated AC buses like Vayu Vajra in Bangalore is really shameful. Even an AC bus service every 15 mins from NMIA to Sewri will do the job.
Whenever you’re booking a flight to Navi Mumbai Airport, please add ₹2000 to your ticket price, to account for the cab. What a mess! Insanely expensive cabs, even if you try to book Uber Go thinking it’s slightly cheap, they’re not available & wait time is 45 minutes 🫡
