I have no hatred against Haitians. They’ve never done anything wrong to me or Black Americans as a group, and I find the story of the Haitian Revolution inspiring, but I’m sick of this arrogant delusion some Haitians have! Haitians as a group, as a nation, as a culture, were not in anyway responsible for the liberation of Black Americans. The primary Black Union soldiers were Black American. The primary funders, organizers, marchers, in all of our movements and efforts for freedom were Black Americans. The primary people risking their lives, dying, being arrested, having their lives ruined, their property destroyed or stolen were Black American Freedmen. If there were any Haitians here, there were like 1 for every 100,000 of us, and they didn’t do anything we weren’t doing already. Any help any newcomer gave, we respect and appreciate. But Haiti did not free us! And when people like you claim otherwise, you’re spitting in the face of our ancestors, and disrespecting our people. If you want the divide to stop, people like you need to stop trying to spread horse shit like this.
