You think that after about 15 years of using git, you can easily make it NOT ignore a file... right? Well, if the file is nested inside an ignored subdirectory you can't just directly add it with "!/path/to/file". Real life events inspired my blog post: blog.narnach.com/blog/2022/d…

Groupie v0.6.0 has been released! 🎉 github.com/Narnach/groupie/r… 🤔 What is it? A ruby gem to do text classification using a Bayesian approach. 📢 What has changed? Dropped Ruby 2.6 support (it's EOL) and improved tokenization of URLs.

I was surprised when I read @charlieinthe6's report on YC companies initial choices in back-end programming language and their eventual valuations. charliereese.ca/article/top-… I expected to see a modest correlation between tech stack and financial success. Wow was I wrong! 🧵1

Do you remember when you joined Twitter? I do! #MyTwitterAnniversary Back in the old days, when it felt like it was mostly just a developer community 😅 Twitter has come a long way since then.

Groupie v0.5.0 has been released! 🎉 github.com/Narnach/groupie/r… 🤔 What is it? A ruby gem to do text classification using a Bayesian approach, revived after 10 years. 📢 What's new? Smart minimum weights, to make classification in low-data circumstances much less biased.

I started this 12 years ago for fun and to help me classify which of the RSS feeds I followed were interesting. I got distracted. Now it's back to help me... classify which of my RSS feeds are interesting 🤣 Seriously: I'm working on a smarter RSS reader: infinity-feed.com/

Equally, if you build production systems on found 'free' software without the engineering due diligence of understanding how you will support/maintain those critical components, you don't get to be surprised or upset when you discover a dumpster fire in your midst. 3/4

A very good writeup of a (now patched) ingenious exploit for iOS. Unfortunately it was created by NSO Group, who sells it to evil regimes that use it to suppress good people. googleprojectzero.blogspot.c…

Hey @transavia die website van jullie blijft de sessie resetten, soms zelfs na een minuut of 2. Ik heb na 3x proberen te boeken de moed opgegeven. Dit is niet hoe je mensen motiveert om met jullie te vliegen 😉

Any time I have a thought of: “I should have done X differently” I’ve been making an effort to reframe the thought as: “If I’m in that situation again, I can do X differently”

This is absolutely going to have effects on AWS. "Which half of the business can I trust" isn't something you want your customers ever asking. Customers don't grok your org chart, and expecting them to is patently unreasonable. Google Reader continues to haunt Google Cloud.
