Representing the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, @ShehuDikko , at the finals of the NASCO-sponsored ITF J30 World Tennis Tour Junior Championship in Abuja, the Special Adviser on Administration, Legal & Strategy, Barr. Musa Ahmadu, praised the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), NASCO Foods and other partners for delivering a successful tournament that brought together young talents from 14 countries. Addressing athletes, coaches, parents and stakeholders, Barr. Ahmadu described the championship as an important platform for junior players to earn ranking points, gain international exposure and take meaningful steps towards professional tennis careers. He noted that Nigerian athletes should not always have to travel abroad at significant cost in pursuit of ranking opportunities, adding that hosting more internationally recognised competitions locally would create greater access for players, improve exposure for coaches and officials, and further position Nigeria as a serious sporting nation. The five-day championship, held at the Package B Tennis Complex of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, featured players from Nigeria, China, the United States, Great Britain, Canada, France, Sweden, India, Sri Lanka, Lithuania, Cameroon, Liberia, Togo and Benin Republic. Nigeria's Success Ogunjobi emerged Girls Singles Champion after defeating compatriot Khadijat Mohammed 6-2, 6-1, while China's Hengzhi Cui claimed the Boys Singles title with a 6-1, 7-6(8) victory over Nigeria's Gbolahan Olawale. Barr. Ahmadu also pointed to the recent progress of Nigerian junior tennis star Seun Ogunsakin on the international stage as evidence of what can be achieved when talented athletes are provided with the right competitions, support systems and development pathways. The National Sports Commission commends all participating athletes, coaches, officials, sponsors and partners for their contributions to another successful international tennis event in Nigeria. . #NSC #NationalSportsCommission #RHINSE #ITFJ30

Every once in a while, a story emerges that reminds us why investment in sports development matters. Congratulations to @zadokYohanna_ on his remarkable move to Brighton & Hove Albion. His journey is a powerful example of what can happen when talent is matched with opportunity, guidance, and the right environment. Not long ago, Zadok was playing football in Kaduna, pursuing his dream with determination and resilience. Today, he has earned a place at one of the most competitive levels of the game, inspiring countless young people across Kaduna State and Nigeria. While we celebrate his achievement, we must also recognize the responsibility it places on all of us. Success stories like this should not be rare exceptions. They should become a consistent outcome of a deliberate system that identifies, nurtures, and develops young talents across our communities. This is why the ongoing efforts of the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Sen. @ubasanius to strengthen sports development remain so important. Through investments in sports infrastructure, the renovation of key facilities, collaboration with the @NatSportsComm under the leadership of Mallam @ShehuDikko , and policies designed to create more opportunities for young athletes, we are working towards a future where many more young people can follow similar pathways. Kaduna is blessed with an abundance of talent. Our task is to provide the structure, support, and platforms that allow that talent to flourish. Zadok Yohanna's achievement is a proud moment for Kaduna State and a reminder of what is possible when dreams are given a chance. Congratulations, Zadok. May this be the beginning of an even greater journey, and may your success inspire the next generation of young athletes across our state. @OfficialBHAFC

When people ask me why I still believe in sports as a pathway for youth development, stories like this are part of my answer. Somebody sent me the Zadok Yohanna story this morning and honestly, I had to read it twice. Born in Bauchi. Moved to Kaduna on his own as a young boy to chase a football dream. Flew to Sweden less than a year ago. And today, at just 18 years old, Brighton have reportedly signed him for Β£21.5 million, beating some of the biggest clubs in world football to secure his signature. Think about that for a moment. A teenager from northern Nigeria, armed with little more than talent, discipline and determination, has forced his way into one of the most competitive talent markets on earth. This is why I will always believe in investing in young people. Not because every child will become a professional footballer, but because talent exists everywhere in this country. What is often missing is opportunity, structure, support and belief. My vision in establishing the Kwara Football Academy and @ABSIlorinFC was rooted in this same belief, and it has given opportunities to players like Dennis Emmanuel Bonaventure, Olusegun Oakunle, Benjamin Frederick, Mubarak Gata, David Okoromi and a host of others now plying their trade in both local and international clubs. Nigerians are an extraordinarily talented people. That has never been in question. What stories like Zadok’s remind us is what can happen when talent meets opportunity. I encourage the Nigeria Football Federation @thenff, the National Sports Commission @NatSportsComm, and the National Institute for Sports, to look into creating the enabling environment for more football academies aimed at discovering more talents like Zadok Yohanna, as the global searchlight beams on Nigeria as the football destination for Africa. To every young person chasing a dream that seems impossible today: keep going. Your current circumstances do not have to define your future. And to Zadok: Congratulations! The whole world can now see your talent, but this is only the beginning. Keep working, stay grounded, and never forget the journey that brought you here. As you said yourself, β€œI know where I came from.” Hold on to that mindset.
