new Stranger Things has some good moments but the vast majority of it is either a) characters having redundant heart to hearts, or b) characters explaining their “theory” or their “crazy plan that just might work”

Trust me on this: Nothing will improve your quality of life more than proximity to people you love. It’s worth more than any job will ever pay you.

my hot take is that everyone needs to be friends with people significantly younger and significantly older than themselves. you miss out on a lot of the richness of rewarding human connection by only socialising with people who are approximately the same age as you

When no one at the group dinner wants appetizers and then they say some shit like “But if you want the artichoke dip you should totally get it.” Bitch u know full well I’m not gonna get an artichoke dip platter for one. The dream is dead and u were the one who killed it.

That one of the great tragedies of life is the paradox of wisdom and age. As you become wiser about life and the world, you have less time to apply it yourself. So you try to pass it down, but some things just can't be heard in youth. It only comes through the experience of living. And then the cycle repeats: you remember that someone tried to give you some gems and you didn't listen, so you try to do the same. It's a somewhat cruel time loop of sorts, and I ponder over the design sometimes.
as you got older what did you realise?

The secret to a happy life is really just living in close proximity with friends & family, and meeting up every Sunday to eat together and maybe do a sleepover.

when you’re 29, you are the OLDEST a “young person” can be, and feel like you’re gonna die asap the second you turn 30, you’re now the YOUNGEST that a “real adult” aka “old person” will ever be, and life is good again PSA for late-20s friends

Devastating to realize that the way to finish work you don't want to do is to just sit down and do it and then it will be done.
