Sikh soldiers at the INA training camp in Shanghai. Backed by Japan, the INA played a pivotal role in making India free. The INA was formed by General Mohan Singh and Pritam Singh. Later on, Subhas Bose took charge.

People trying to ingratiate themselves to Britishers, Canadians and others by claiming that "Sikhs" fought alongside the Allies in WW 2. Facts: Sikhs played huge role in India's freedom struggle against the colonial British. They were there in big number with Subhas Bose in Nazi Germany and SE Asia on the Axis side. The INA was raised by General Mohan Singh and Pritam Singh.

M.S. Golkalwar addressed home minister Sardar Patel as 'Manyavar Sardarji'. On the other hand, he addressed an obscure and mysterious Sannyasi as 'Pujyapad', 'Seva me satashah pranam.' That difference in addressing the two people is itself a story. @anujdhar

Lot of credit goes to the Brown Sepoys. They lived and died for the Empire. Left to them, the Empire would still be here.
British managed to build one of the largest empires in history despite entering the colonial race later than Spain & Portugal, which had already divided newly discovered territories between themselves through the Treaty of Tordesillas. Only made possible by British naval superiority & audacious military commanders like Robert Clive.

The Delhi Gymkhana Club was the venue for the "farewell comrades" party in the honour of Indian army officers who had decided to go to Pakistan. After an year or so, these "comrades" attacked India. And all that the supporter of Brown Sepoys and their foreign masters have to do today is to vilify INA and Subhas Chandra Bose. They say that a few ex-INA men were in Pakistan army when the Kashmir war happened. Oh, please! @Sanjay_Dixit @ShubhamAzadHind @chandrachurg @ProfKapilKumar

A charming revolutionary who after throwing a bomb at the Viceroy rushed back to his workplace to organise a meeting condemning the 'dastardly act', Rash Behari Bose was born on this day. A matter of pride for me that he belongs to my district, now Purba Bardhaman. When his involvement was exposed, Rash Behari, striding between Punjab, Delhi, Varanasi and Chandannagar had to flee to Japan, disguised at Rabindranath Tagore's secretary. He organised the Indian Independence League across East Asia after the fall of Singapore in Feb 1942 and played a crucial role in the formation of the Azad Hind Fauj. The movement broke up due to internal conflicts and when Netaji arrived in Singapore, Rash Behari handed over the command to him in July 1943. Old photos colourised with Grok's help. #RashBehariBose #Netaji #INA #AzadHindFauj

At the end of the second world war in which the Allies led by GB and US were victorious, power was transferred to Indians not considered enemies of the British. There was no scope for Subhas Chandra Bose to become PM in 1947 with the kind of set up we got -- dominion status with King George continuing as head of state of free India. The only option for Bose would have been to go off the radar and bide his time. Bose had aligned with the Axis in India's national interest. In post-war period, no one with link to the Axis could have survived in the world, forget becoming PM of India.
Who deserved to become India's first Prime Minister—Nehru or Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose?

This looks tacky. Disappointed. There is no dearth of good sculptors in Bengal.
A landmark of National pride and patriotism 🇮🇳✨ A majestic 12-foot statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, has been unveiled at Jai Hind Bimanbandar Metro Station near Kolkata Airport, West Bengal, as a tribute and respect to great freedom fighter and national icon.
