Mine was just canceled too (was supposed to be next week). Horrific -- for NIH and especially all the science that depends on it.
NIH study sections are being canceled or postponed at the last minute, wasting countless hours of scientists' time and delaying critical research funding. This instability threatens scientific progress and patient care. @NIH needs to fix this - fast. #NIHStudySection @theNCI @nih_nhlbi @NIHFunding @NIHDirector

👀 How does the brain process visual information? New research by @BoninLab and colleagues (@__NERF) suggests it's more complicated than we thought. ➡️ Read more: vibbio.tech/4gfeQO7 The video 👇 shows how visual information is transmitted in the brain.

Super-significant work in NeuroAI!
How do brains “infer” the world’s state from noisy sensory data—and do so “dynamically?” Our new theoretical framework bridges these two perspectives in a brain-inspired model👉🧵[1/n] w/ amazing co-lead @dekelgalor & polymath mentor @jcbyts 📜preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2410.19315

I'm at #NeurIPS23 and I'll be presenting this work on Tue Dec 12, afternoon session (poster #415). Details here: nips.cc/virtual/2023/poster/… I love chatting about brains, AI, and anything in between. If you're at #NeurIPS23 and care about #NeuroAI, let’s connect! 🧠🤖

Why is the visual cortex organized hierarchically? Because it has to infer the underlying composition of a multi-scale world. New preprint with @jcbyts and @NeuralCodeUMD (accepted to #NeurIPS2023) biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This paper is so cool: dangeng.github.io/visual_ana… It shows several kinds of illusions that I had never seen before (e.g., color inversion illusion). It's exciting to see more and more cases like this, where AI opens up new kinds of art, rather than only imitating old forms.

Come see our poster this afternoon (Saturday) at #SfN23 (Z26): suggesting color and form are processed through separate channels in (high-acuity) foveal V1, likely due to the limits of cone sampling. With @BevilConway and presented by Felix Bartsch.

It's finally out! Great work from the @nienborglab (with @jcbyts) that I enjoyed being a part of.
In primates, activity in visual cortex is minimally driven by spontaneous body movements. These results confirm the functional specialization of primate visual processing and contrast with findings in mice. nature.com/articles/s41593-0…
