This is critical point: at Elon’s level, taxes are irrelevant to consumption; it’s all about who will allocate capital. And he has proven himself orders of magnitude more capable than those who want to take his wealth. You may as well burn the rockets/factories/data centers/etc as give to Liz Warren/Ro Khanna types—the relative impact would be about the same. For those whose primary motive is distribution of power, this might still be attractive. But no one should delude himself that a wealth tax can be “invested” in anything with a remotely comparable return.
Replying to @Geiger_Capital
Taking money from the the world's greatest allocator of capital and giving it to government to squander is perhaps the worst idea of modern times.

He knows how to productively invest capital. This is likely a foreign concept to you, but it’s what matters at these levels.

Impressive to see what Jesse has built in three years. Christian colleges face a critical juncture, and Jesse is uniquely positioned to help guide them toward a successful future. I’m excited to see CAFF’s continued growth and influence.
OTD in 2023, I left the academy to launch @CAFF_HigherEd. The move was bittersweet b/c I loved teaching students & contributing to campus life, but it has been amazing to watch how the Lord has blessed our work. Here are some highlights as we celebrate CAFF's 3rd anniversary.🧵1/

Texas is THE place to be. No state income tax, real energy, real builders, business friendly start to finish. Why we moved Rex to Texas back in 2020. Migration was barely getting started then, gap only widens from here...
Texas has replaced California as the state with the most Fortune 500 capital. 💰 Texas’ 57 Fortune 500 companies made roughly $2.8 trillion in revenue last year, compared to California’s 56 companies and roughly $2.7 trillion revenue. New York comes in third with 53 companies and $2.2 trillion. fortune.com/2026/06/03/which…

The problem with "confidencemaxxing" is that confidence isn't a conscious decision. It's a subconscious conclusion. It's a lagging indicator. You build confidence by keeping promises to yourself, developing competence, winning in the domains you compete in, and surviving failure. People who try to act "confident" without the underlying evidence usually come across as even more insecure than they might otherwise be.
Learn to confidencemaxxx and watch reality bend your way. Winners act like winners. This is your sign to start believing in yourself. This is your sign to start becoming delusionally confident in yourself and the fact that it will all work out.

This scenario is likely, with the highest returns going to savvy users of AI. Since proximity to complementary operations will be an advantage when applying, this may mean the best AI opportunities and benefits may be in transforming operating businesses across America.
I got a lot of flack when I said this before, but I continue to think that model providers will end up being a lot like airlines: Critical for the global economy but highly commoditized, with huge capex requirements and low (and often negative) margins.

The condescending tone of the effective altruists is immediately recognizable and may end up being one of their biggest PR problems. But nobody said taking a west coast rationalism cult mainstream would be easy.

AI will massively cut offshoring. The more routine information-processing skills that are most easily offshored will be best done by AI. The human skills that AI does not replace will be best done by people close (culturally & often geographically) to customers.
I shared this note earlier today with the entire team at Opendoor. Today we began to say goodbye to our colleagues in India as we wind down our India operations. Our customers are in America, and that's where our operational work belongs.

Spent some time in Searcy, AR over the weekend at a wedding. It’s a cool little time capsule. Regional hub, Church of Christ stronghold, DRY COUNTY. There’s a whole national power network/mafia centered out of Harding U. All in all, very cool and trad American scene.

One of the most impressive military victories in history.
Cortes and the Conquest of the Aztecs gets a lot of attention in 16th century history, and rightly so. But the conquest of the Inca Empire by Francisco Pizarro is perhaps even more impressive. Pizarro initially had 168 men (Cortez had about 500) and faced armies of 40-80,000. I read one historian describe the Spanish conquistador armies as "comically small." Like Cortes, Pizarro was able to quickly figure out the internal political divides of his opponent. He took Emperor Atahualpa as a hostage while the Inca were in the middle of a civil war. Many local tribes joined the Spanish opportunistically. There was some resistance, but the Spanish conquered this enormous, mountainous empire with relative ease. Another conquest added to the long list accumulated by Spain during its golden age.
