California will keep fighting on behalf of all our people including in the courts. If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant, based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe. Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. But they do not stop there. Phenomenal response from Australian media on the incident in which Australian journalist Lauren Tomasi was shot with a rubber bullet at relatively short range by a police officer. To be very clear, she posed no threat to the officer, Indeed she had her back to him. It was clear she was press, yet the officer decided in what can only be described as a cowardly act of reckless disregard for her safety to deliberately injure her. This is disgraceful, especially when we are being constantly told police officers are the victims.
