Just 3 old guys talking college hoops! Houston Cougars 1st with a bit of Big 12 coverage too. Now a part of the "GoCoogs.com" network! #ForTheCity#Big12
Threatening to sue your own conference for enforcing bylaws you have agreed to - and used to sanction others - is not, technically, breaking a rule. It is, however, colossally stupid
The ruinous situation Wilner describes: the school has broken no rule, has remained supportive of a young man in trouble, and remains the favorite to win the Big XII on the field.
On Sunday, Brendan Sorsby met with Texas Tech's board to reaffirm his status.
Hours later, unbeknownst to Tech, the Big 12 made a dark-of-night filing that one expert called the most “devastating” legal action he’s seen.

ICYMI, the Big 12’s lawsuit provides some entertaining comic relief about Texas Tech’s “strategery.”The second numbered paragraph of the lawsuit describes Texas Tech’s and the Texas AG’s threats to sue the Big 12 as the very basis upon which the Big 12’s lawsuit is based - no threats, no Big 12 lawsuit - making Texas Tech’s board and the AG look like the village idiots. 😂
ICYMI, here’s the 47-page Big 12 federal court lawsuit that no doubt blindsided Texas Tech and the Texas AG. Filed by powerhouse law firm Sidley Austin in the Northern District of Texas.

Column: In a master class of policing its own neighborhood, the Big 12 did what a Lubbock court would not and the NCAA could not. It forcefully persuaded Brendan Sorsby to abandon playing college football. bit.ly/4eLcKag
Texas Tech reading the Big 12’s lawsuit filed by Sidley Austin - one of the biggest and best law firms in the world - would be like looking out from your bunker and suddenly seeing an armada of 1,213 warships headed toward your coast.
Talked about it on today's podcast. Was inevitable. Texas Tech and Cody Campbell misplayed their hand here and put themselves on an island against everyone else in the college sports world. The situation, which was indefensible from the start, became untenable over the weekend.
Sources: Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. Amid the legal wrangling over his NCAA eligibility after admitting he bet on sports, he intends to head to the NFL.

Houston fans get several marquee home games in Big 12 play with Arizona, Texas Tech, Kansas and Iowa State, according to sources and @MattNorlander and @JonRothstein reports.
Big 12 is releasing its home/away and single/two-play opponents later today. Source tells CBS Sports:
Arizona: ASU, BYU, Houston 2x
Houston: Arizona, TTU, Colorado 2x
Kansas: Single-plays @ Arizona, @ Houston, @ BYU
Am told Houston-Iowa State is one-play and will be @ Houston.
NEW: Legal experts say the Protect College Sports Act may not have prevented the Brendan Sorsby situation, even though it does give the NCAA protections around enforcing gambling rules.
Nonetheless, the situation could be used to push the bill forward.
