Somewhat Ironically as a Linux user I have glasses and full beard with messy curly hair, fuck I'm a flipping stereotype. I guess I'll need to go skinhead and drop the glasses, hit the gym and pump some iron.

High income with higher taxes and even higher living costs and lowest output in terms of actual value and satisfaction = miserable lifestyle
10 Mar 2024
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง British people are now the 2nd most miserable people in the world Previous happiness studies are based on income, wealth and healthcare quality, simply putting Western countries on top always, very very biased The new Mental State of the World report is the first happiness ranking that actually makes sense and is based on surveys of satisfaction People in many low-income countries are actually MORE happy regardless of income: in this case for example ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ด Dominican Republic and ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Sri Lanka are VERY happy While people in a high-income country like United Kingdom are VERY unhappy Added the data to Nomad List for the [ โ˜บ๏ธ Happy ] filter

He's my spicy take: Companies jumping on the AI bandwagon now in a few years will generate a mountain of "AI Shitcode", this shit will need maintaining/fixing, for that will require actual devs, the AI hype train will crash and burn, and the tug of war for real devs will ignite.

I suggest it's best to leave Netlify until they add a hard bandwidth limit. The risks aren't worth it.
27 Feb 2024
On February 24th, an invoice was issued to a Starter plan user of Netlify for a substantial amount of bandwidth usage. Our internal systems should have identified this rare case, and it should have been flagged by our systems before being sent to this user. We sincerely apologize for this situation and the anxiety it caused. Please know that we are taking this situation very seriously. This situation has reinforced the urgency of our ongoing work to put safeguards in place in our billing system to ensure that this never happens again. No user of Netlify should ever be concerned that this could happen to them, and we are committed to fixing this issue immediately. We will also be looking at our company practices, as there clearly was an opportunity for us to have better handled this situation. Again, we apologize to the impacted user, as well as the community at large. We promise to do better.

Sure a car is "easy" to operate if your remove stuff like windows, seatbelts, doors, car body and so on. Turns out while simple = easy, it also means unsafe. I think stick to my seatbelt, doors, windows and rollcage thanks ๐Ÿ‘

Golang: Being easy to learn does not mean it's a weak or bad language. it means someone understood language design complexities enough to simplify it. Simplicity == understood complexity

I always shutdown both my PC and laptop, it's just a waste of electricity. Here in the UK the cost of energy is too high for that kind of shit!
Alright, who else is guilty of this? I can't remember the last time I shut down my desktop lmao

All this proves is that there is some thing X which be viewed in different ways (U,V,W) but none of them contradict each other because they're still based on X. In other words there are legal and valid mappings across all of them. I fear the last context will be lost.

I dunno, I find it makes me less productive. Chuck that garbage in the bin. Then again I'm old school and do 80% code in my head. AI just gets in the way YMMV. I find pen and paper most productive to figure stuff out, also use a damn debugger!
27 Feb 2024
Itโ€™s crazy to me that many developers canโ€™t use AI at work. They can't use one of the most powerful technologies ever released. I think that puts them at a huge disadvantage. Sure, you can code without it, but why not use something that makes you more a lot more productive?

Not only should Netlify have DDoS out the box, but they should have bandwidth cut off as soon as the limits are reached. This is 2024, we had bandwidth quotas way back in the 90s. C'mon #netlify sort this shit out

There is also NextCloud/OwnCloud that's free if you self host, you can also use "EmailInABox" container...

The left one is like $12/mo/employee and comes with sso, takeover employee accounts, data retention, ldap. You get everything included and itโ€™s all cohesively integrated into a single suite of tools the right one is likeโ€ฆ fuckenโ€ฆ $50/mo/employee all in. and has useless AI features built in because the founders need the ai usage metrics to play into the ai hypecycle narrative to pump their val (email support to opt out) ALSO: No SSO or ability to transfer terminated employeesโ€™ pages unless you pay for the insane enterprise tier (!!!!!!) (โ€œContact sales for pricingโ€ bullshit) and is fucking SLOW and eats 200MB of ram. and 50% chance doesnt work on linux and impossible to switch off of because xDdd data moat and process moat I regret switching to Notion from Google Docs every day at work

This is trash and utter cringe, yes there are some exceptions (back in the days we used to call them roll up tables) but as with everything in context and moderation. Not doing any joins is just moronic, please don't listen to these clowns

What a foolish article, its entire premise is "but but but classes look cleaner", so what? when I dive into ANY tailwind project, I can instantly understand and edit it. We also have components and templates if we need higher abstraction. That's way harder with CSS class soup.
stop using tailwind, its pure overhead
