On Monday, 103 Department members were promoted to various leadership ranks during a ceremony held on Staten Island.
“There is nothing more gratifying to me than to see you all succeed. I look out at you and I see in all of you a bright future for this beloved Department,” said Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker. “As you head into your new roles, be smart, be safe, and keep learning and training. This job is made great by members like all of you, doing hard work, showing up, and leading with excellence.”
Members were promoted to the ranks of Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain, Supervising Fire Marshal, Lieutenant, and Fire Marshal.
Rabbi Joseph Potasnik was promoted to Chief FDNY Chaplain, a historic appointment never before made in the Department’s 160-year history.
“Courage is what drives our members to act decisively in the face of danger, to make hard decisions, and to inspire confidence in others,” said Chief of Department John Esposito.
The newly promoted members will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
