On Monday, 103 Department members were promoted to various leadership ranks during a ceremony held on Staten Island. “There is nothing more gratifying to me than to see you all succeed. I look out at you and I see in all of you a bright future for this beloved Department,” said Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker. “As you head into your new roles, be smart, be safe, and keep learning and training. This job is made great by members like all of you, doing hard work, showing up, and leading with excellence.” Members were promoted to the ranks of Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain, Supervising Fire Marshal, Lieutenant, and Fire Marshal. Rabbi Joseph Potasnik was promoted to Chief FDNY Chaplain, a historic appointment never before made in the Department’s 160-year history.  “Courage is what drives our members to act decisively in the face of danger, to make hard decisions, and to inspire confidence in others,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. The newly promoted members will be assigned to units throughout New York City.

On Wednesday, 145 Members of the FDNY were promoted at a ceremony on Staten Island. “Leadership is about inspiring others, lifting each other up, and fostering a spirit of unity. Today, as you are promoted, you step into a new role, one that requires you to guide, to mentor, and to support the next generation of the FDNY. Remember, leadership is not just a title, it’s a responsibility, and I have no doubt that each of you will rise to meet that responsibility with honor and integrity,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker. Members were promoted to the rank of deputy assistant chief, captain, lieutenant, supervising fire marshal, and fire marshal. “Whether you are at the beginning of your leadership journey or you’ve been there for some time, every rank in our department is critical. Every member plays a key role in making sure we are always moving forward and improving our training, safety, and performance. Set the tone for those around you. The way you carry yourself on the fireground and in the firehouse and in the way you serve the city and represent this job, it matters. You are an example,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. The newly promoted members will be assigned to units throughout the city. We congratulate them and thank them for their service. To watch the full ceremony visit YouTube.com/officialFDNY.
