The govt's Core Education Funding announcement is a thinly veiled attempt to hide cuts that will hurt #OntEd students.   #CatholicTeachers call on the govt to stop the cuts and work with teachers, parents, and communities to make real investments in our schools.

Instead of engaging meaningfully with #OntEd communities to best support students, this govt has rushed the passage of #Bill101, doubling down on its regime of forced compliance. Our local communities are what make our schools strong, not more backroom control at Queen's Park.
This govt power grab has nothing to do with student success, says @OECTAprez René Jansen in de Wal to MPPs at Queen's Park. #CatholicTeachers call on @PaulCalandra to withdraw #Bill101 and engage meaningfully with our local #OntEd school communities to truly support students.

I am sorry you chose to misquote me by cutting what I said- it is insignificant in the face of the $6.3billion you have cut for kids in classes. All of this is a distraction for control and the increasing cuts of your supervisors. Let’s talk about the real funding problem. #OntEd
Millions to outside organizations. “Infinitesimally insignificant.” I disagree. That money belongs in classrooms.

The govt's budget fails students, families, teachers – everyone in our #OntEd schools. Instead of trying to protect itself by hiding from Ontarians, this govt should be laser-focused on investing in schools and the public services that truly Protect Ontario.
BREAKING: The Ford government has passed the budget bill, complete with the retroactive FOI scaleback. MPPs were chanting “F-O-I” in the house. #onpoli

Leaders must call out what this presentation was: anti-Black racism. It was harmful to Black students, teachers, families, & #OntEd. The response from @DPCDSBSchools and Minister Calandra, duty-holders legally obligated to fight discrimination, reveal why it will happen again.

This proposed legislation does not close the $6.3B #OntEd funding gap. It does not limit growing class sizes, address classroom violence, or any of the other issues hurting Ontario’s publicly funded education system. It is hard to see how this Act puts Ontario students first.
BREAKING: The Ford government has backed down from its desire to abolish school board trustees. Instead, the government is creating new board bureaucracy intended to have control over decisions, hiring and budgets. globalnews.ca/news/11799110/… #onpoli #onted

Teacher input is key to getting this right. A one-year program may bring in new teachers sooner, but without improved working conditions, it fails to address retention. A sustainable solution must address all #OntEd challenges, including class size, violence, and underfunding.

Care, integrity, and a commitment to our students is standard for #CatholicTeachers, not only at graduation, but every day in the classroom. Hard to believe Minister Calandra holds those same priorities when he didn’t even bother to share this heavy-handed memo with us.
In an interview with QP Briefing, Calandra said that while he hopes boards will adjust voluntarily, he is ready to intervene using the full scope of his authority under the Education Act #onpoli #onted qpbriefing.com/news/ontario-…

#OntEd teachers have spent their own money to compensate for the lack of classroom supplies for far too long. $750 for elementary teachers — ignoring our librarians, tech classes, & secondary schools — doesn't fix the $6B funding gap. @OECTAprez statement: bit.ly/47GxRGO

$750 does not make up for $6.3 billion in #OntEd government underfunding. Once again, teachers are being asked to show up for students and make up for gaps left by the government. We need real and sustained investments to ensure student success, not another band-aid solution.
