New @OldFrontLinePod Q&A! We explore German #WW1 Death Cards, the impact of the 1918 Flu Pandemic, the origins of naming medals "Pip, Squeak and Wilfred", and how trenches were dug when the enemy was only yards away.

A student contacted me today to ask if we could go to visit a relative buried in Railway Dugouts.
I answered “Yes”
Itinerary updated!
A new stop for me.
Thanks @CWGC for the excellent leaflet I picked up last week.
@sommecourt is there a @OldFrontLinePod that covers this?
Last month I visited Vauquois, one of the most extraordinary battlefields
• 21 km of tunnels dug
• 519 mines detonated
• A village that disappeared
Today, much of this underground world still survives.
My latest video explores this hidden battlefield

Podcast episodes often lead to book purchases 😁 Got a really nice used copy of "They called it Passchedaele" to a really good price at awesomebooks.com . It will be really nice to read 😊 @OldFrontLinePod
As we head towards the 110th anniversary of the Somme, this is another great @OldFrontLinePod from @sommecourt - especially for Barnsley followers on here, given the role of the Pals at Serre.
In this latest @OldFrontLinePod QnA Episode we examine: observation balloons on the Western Front, white feathers, were there minefields on the battlefield, and trench foot.

Quick canter up the adventure park track before the weather turns. Caught up on @OldFrontLinePod . Always enjoy listening when here as the landscape reminds me a bit of the Western Front as its plantation forest, lots of housing development around
Thanks to all who joined me for a @OldFrontLinePod Podcast Supporters Evening tonight where we looked at #WW1 images connected to the build-up on the Somme in June 1916. (Photo colourised by @colour_history)
