Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.
“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” - President Alan Garber hrvd.me/GarberRespond347t

The United States has run trade deficits for 48 straight years, during which time the U.S. economy has grown by 255% in real terms. Decades of trade deficits have corresponded with increases in manufacturing output, wealth, and household incomes.

It still astonishes me that Russia was one of the few countries in the world to avoid Trump's tariffs. (Ukraine did not.)

6 children! 14 people. Gone in a moment. Just like that. How's peace talks? Putin is not a bad guy, right? He can be trusted, right?
A Russian missile struck an ordinary city, directly hitting a street in an area with residential buildings. Preliminary reports suggest it was a ballistic missile strike. As of now, 14 fatalities have been confirmed, including six children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. The rescue operation is ongoing, at least five residential buildings have been damaged. Russian strikes occur every day. People die every day. There is only one reason why this continues: Russia doesn't want a ceasefire, and we see it. The whole world sees it. Each missile, every attack drone proves that Russia seeks only war. And only the world's pressure on Russia, all efforts to strengthen Ukraine, our air defense, and our forces—can determine when the war will end. The United States, Europe, and the rest of the world have the capacity to force Russia to abandon terror and war. And this must be ensured—peace is needed.

As I have always warned, tariffs are bad policy, and trade wars with our partners hurt working people most. Tariffs drive up the cost of goods and services. They are a tax on everyday working Americans. Preserving the long-term prosperity of American industry and workers requires working with our allies, not against them. With so much at stake globally, the last thing we need is to pick fights with the very friends with whom we should be working with to protect against China’s predatory and unfair trade practices. That includes what we do on trade.

On the day that Trump sanctioned every ally of the United States in the world, his team made special arrangements for the head of Russia's sovereign fund to visit DC & Russia was one of the few countries in the world not hit be new tariffs today. I hope the American people get an explanation for this. I find it outrageous. reuters.com/world/europe/put…

The Trump Tariff Tax is the largest peacetime tax hike in U.S. history. These Tariffs are nearly 10x the size of those imposed during the Trump-Pence Administration and will cost American families over $3,500 per year. Check Out“Spoiling America’s Golden Age”@AmericanFreedom 👇

Ronald Reagan has a message for MAGA as Trump declares trade wars against our allies: “We should beware of the demagogues who are willing to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world, all while cynically waving the American flag."

“Trade is an economic alliance that benefits both countries. There are no losers, only winners. And trade helps strengthen the free world. Yet today protectionism is being used by some American politicians as a cheap form of nationalism, a fig leaf for those unwilling to maintain America's military strength and who lack the resolve to stand up to real enemies.” President Ronald Reagan,Radio Address to the Nation (November 26, 1988) m.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp1T7k…
