Having moved house, I've had to be referred to the local diabetes service by my GP as a brand new patient. They've given me an appointment in mid-November! I don't even know which type I've got as they can't decide if it's type 2 or 3c

I do wonder if @nimbusdis are appropriately registered with the @ICOnews for holding special category data.

Been told I need bloodtests that I should have had this time last year as inpatient. Apparently results take 10-12 weeks to get back to the GP! Lab page says they have a 2 week turn round! Where are the other 8-10 weeks coming from? It's an NHS lab. Other NHS labs even faster.

Another night ruined by my CGM erroneously reporting low blood sugar. Readings are 3-4 lower than finger prick measures. This is the third sensor in a row that's doing that.

They're killing us before the assisted dying bill comes in. It'll be even worse after.
A disabled man died after waiting over 34 hours for antibiotics at Bassetlaw Hospital his death was found to have been preventable independent.co.uk/news/healt… The man, who lived in supported accommodation in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, suffered from a rare incurable disorder called #Alexanderdisease, affecting the nervous system and causing developmental delays. He also had communication needs and his mum stated - I knew my son better than anyone and I was trying to help the doctors by telling them the oral antibiotic wouldn’t work and that the GP had a microbiologist’s report that said he wouldn’t respond to that drug. But they just totally dismissed me. “Their attitude was they were the doctors and I was just his mum. The @PHSOmbudsman investigation found he was given the correct IV medication more than a day after he arrived at hospital, and at half the dosage it should have been. By the time a second dose was given, which was also delayed, the man had become septic and he died a week later. The report found his disabilities meant he had difficulties communicating with staff and raising the lack of treatment…. Where was the LD nurse in all this? Had staff at this hospital completed the mandatory Oliver McGowan training @PaulaMc007 ? And when will staff take parent carers of disabled particularly mothers seriously? How many more disabled have to die ? #NHS #Disabilities #carers #misogyny @martinimarie @redpepper1011 @SarahSpoorUK @keepnhshonest @KenZeroHarm @sendagenda @sheilaoliver16 @wesstreeting

Delay repay? That’s not a delay. That’s a breach of Equality Act. £1200 minimum. Vento. I wish more people would understand disabled people’s rights.

Why do bipeds sit in the wheelchair space on the tube/train when there are lots of other seats?

As group leader @NigelCllr do you concur with your elected members creating hierarchies of disabled people according to their access needs ? I very much hope not. It really is not the way to expose the Labour Administration’s woeful inaction on community transport.

An extraordinary statement made by Cllr Vassie (Lib Dem) at last night’s Scrutiny on Dial a Ride. Said this Council #York rolls out the red carpet for Blue Badge Holders‼️Guess he forgot we are currently banned from city centre again & will have no exemption through bus gates 🤬

ALT A gif of a red carpet and spotlights

This is scary stuff. Then they will say there’s no coercion or abuse. Not because it’s not happening but because they won’t have any data
🚨WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?! In a move that would assist covering up error & abuse, Scottish MSPs reject @murdo_fraser amendment that would have made sure families could seek a medical review if they believed an assisted suicide had occurred unlawfully. This is staggering!

Anyone who’s part of the disability community has felt her tremendous impact, and to say she paved the way for so many disabled writers and editors would be an understatement. No words can really do her legacy justice.

Quote from a corporate post marking start of Disability History Month "He lives with Usher Syndrome which has caused him to be profoundly deaf and blind but he has never let it hold him back in life or work." Good to see inspiration porn is still alive in 2025

Just found out that my local wheelchair service has no accessible parking. That's going to make returning my old wheelchair really interesting. In one chair is bad enough on the tube, let alone with another and totally impossible on the bus

Today's hot take. You shouldn't be permitted to open a pharmacy that provides NHS services unless the premises are genuinely step free to enter.

I've got a work trip to Liverpool coming up and have to book train tickets through the work travel company portal. Nowhere to see if the wheelchair spaces are free on any of the trains so may have to book several trains and then cancel based on space availability

Why does it take so long to renew a blue badge? I've been told to re-apply 16 weeks before my current one runs out.

Why is it that even on empty trains/tubes bipeds still take up the wheelchair space?

All this talk about getting disabled people into work reminds me of a close friend. 20 years of experience in accounts incl purchase and sales ledger. Company he worked for was bought out by a multinational and local office shut. 1/2

He spent 3 years job hunting, got interviews but as soon as he revealed he was a wheelchair user, he'd be told the position was filled or they weren't recruiting anymore. If this happens to people with skills, experience & stable health, what chance do other disabled people have?
