Corbyn meets the people: conviction, connection and sincerity for a more equal society. Finally a leader I trust. m.youtube.com/watch?v=304hSp…

Cape Verde centre back Roberto 'Pico' Lopes has spent his entire career in Ireland, ignored a LinkedIn message from Cape Verde FA asking him to play for them because it was in Portuguese. A year later, they sent it in English. He accepted. An all-time great World Cup story.

Don't know if this is common knowledge, but the BBC has produced a spoiler-free link to watch World Cup match highlights without knowing the score. Simply go here: bbc.com/nospoilers

Full credit to Bangladesh for a great series win. Very good team in their home conditions. Australia don’t currently have the depth required when our best players are out, especially in the batting #BANvAUS

My tribute to Keith Piper in the book I wrote about the 1994 season when @Warwickshire CCC was so dominant. In The Greatest Season Dennis Amiss said Piper was as good a keeper as Alan Knott. ‘I was mesmerised by his talent’.

Statement from Omar Artan is far more graceful and reserved than FIFA deserves. It is a stain on this tournament that one of Africa's top officials can be blocked from the biggest month of his career.

What an absolute disgrace. A FIFA-certified referee being denied entry to the United States purely because he is Somali. The World Cup is meant to bring people together. This is racism, plain and simple. Shameful. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Banning Cenk Uyghur and Hasan Piker from entering the UK is an absurd and cowardly decision from an increasingly authoritarian government. Let us call this what it is: an attack on the freedom to criticise Israel, as well as the UK government’s own complicity in genocide.
The UK Government has banned two prominent left-wing US speakers from entering the country ⬇️ thenational.scot/news/261536…

The UK government has barred Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur from entering the country over their criticism of Israel. Meanwhile, war criminal Isaac Herzog, whose statements were cited in the ICJ genocide case against Israel, was welcomed at Downing Street with open arms. I’ve written to Shabana Mahmood demanding these bans be reversed immediately:

Campos: While I want to thank CBS news for funding this generous gift towards my education, I want to acknowledge how the recent direction of the outlet stains the legacy of Mike Wallace, the namesake of this scholarship. If at any time you hesitate to utter the word genocide or remain silent in the face of blatant lies, remember to ask yourself: who is this for?

To save you the time of reading past the first paragraph, Yvette Cooper doesn’t actually propose doing anything about it.
I am truly appalled at the video posted by Israeli Cabinet Minister Ben-Gvir taunting those involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla. This violates the most basic standards of respect and dignity in the way people should be treated. We are in touch with the families of a number of British nationals involved to provide them with consular support. We have demanded an explanation from the Israeli authorities and made clear their obligations to protect the rights of our citizens and all those involved.

It’s incredible to me that we allow a nation committing Genocide, whose leaders talk openly of Ethnic Cleansing, whose army routinely targets and murders children, aid workers and journalists - are allowed to take part in something like Eurovision. This is culture washing a nation committing crimes against humanity - its leader is wanted as a war criminal…..FFS. Meanwhile Israel’s representative in this show is found to be breaking the rules by lobbying for votes.
