Son has continuous cough since early Nov. Can't get to sleep. Barely tolerated in classroom on few days he's there. GPs at wits end, referred to #paediatricrespiratory @OUHospitals. Appointment end July! #NHS that's way too long to wait for a young person missing school.

Challenges of parenting children born before 24 weeks of gestation onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… Good articles, challenges for children & families. Generalisability of this Swedish study for 🇬🇧/🇺🇸 tho? Family and social support was good, support economically & at school widespread

Spare 90 seconds to watch & share this great little video with a very important message, from children and young people missing out on school due to unmet special needs.
Parents are blamed by the government for absent children when in fact we are fighting to get our children to school. If anyone wants to know why we fight so hard - watch this #WeCanLearn @education4all23 @DCPcampaign @bphillipsonMP @helenhayes_

Great report from @ChildrensComm with much evidence from YP themselves. Clear recommendations on need for early ID, better data, access to advocacy, ICB focus on school attendance, more school nurses, mental health nurses, LD nurses, health visitors ... childrenscommissioner.gov.uk…

Wise words @Rachel_deSouza: I want to see an overhaul of how we think and talk about disabled children’s experiences: it is not the job of one department, or one funding pot.We must consider what every child needs to fulfil their potential and feel pride in what they can achieve.
