A Palestinian child released in the recent exchange deal was found to be suffering from severe scabies, highlighting the horrific conditions in Israeli detention centers. An investigation by Haaretz revealed that a quarter of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody had scabies, which has been used as a form of torture.
The United Nations has also documented worsening medical conditions, including skin rashes, boils, and abscesses, linked to Israel’s deliberate maintenance of unsanitary conditions.
The Jerusalemite boy, Reda Obeid, was released from captivity, with the effects of scabies still visible on his body, which he has been suffering from since last November.
