Interesting paper. Well done @misshollyman et al Some takeaways for me: -20% idiopathic; need strategies to make sure definitely isn't stones -absolute no's high for lower severity disease. Big wins from changing care for this group Vs severe But... #surgicalresearch

Key news from @DeMadaria and #WATERFALLtrial in acute pancreatitis. Stopped after interim analysis shows aggressive fluid arm (lactated Ringer's 20-mL/kg bolus over 2h followed by 3 mL/kg/hr) have 🔼necrosis, 🔼ICU admission and 🔼organ failure. Bottom line: Use fluids wisely!
Tuesday 24th, 9:15 am 👉🏼Don't miss the #WATERFALLtrial international RCT interim analysis, aggressive versus moderate fluid resuscitation in acute pancreatitis ⁦@DDWMeeting#SanDiego ativsoftware.com/appinfo.php… #DDW2022

Thanks @leowatton for you, and all the collaborators who made this project possible. Great to share some initial results with the wider team!
One of my takeaways from #ASGBI2022 is the value of collaborative research. Great to see the volume of data accrued in some big studies. Having been a local lead at @SalfordCO_NHS I’m biased towards @Panc_Study, thanks @misshollyman for presenting preliminary results. @asgbi

Angeliki Kosti presenting some of the initial @Panc_Study data at @asgbi in the @BJSurgery prize session. Previous acute pancreatitis is protective against mortality if the patient has a subsequent attack. #ASGBI2022
