Love this so much. People Leo and I share our IT family support role.
John Prevost, the pope’s older brother, rang from Chicago with a computer problem — because Bob, as the family still calls him, has always been the one who fixes these things. “John, I’m the pope,” Leo reminded him. The reply came without a pause: “Oh, sorry pope. My computer is broken.” thelettersfromleo.com/p/john…

🇨🇻😢 Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha: "I cried after the game because I grew up with my grandparents when I was a kid, and they could not be there. They passed away a few years ago. My mum could not be here either for a VISA issue, and the money we had to pay for it. We did not manage to do this in time." (@TheAthleticFC)

The Spain loss (it’s a loss OK) healed me from that time I took my parents to Spain and we were mocked for our Cuban accents.

Kudos to Cabo Verde, one of the smallest countries in the World Cup, holding mighty Spain to a 0-0 draw. Another impressive start for another African team.

Barack and I were so honored to have @AkunyiliCrosby create our portrait for the Obama Presidential Center. Her artistic brilliance shines through — and the way she infused such life and joy into the piece is truly extraordinary. We love it, and we think everyone who visits the Center will too!

$70 billion. What Congress just appropriated to fund ICE and Border Patrol through the end of the Trump administration, routed through reconciliation so it skips the usual guardrails. See the data here: austinkocher.substack.com/p/…

Navigating elder parent caregiving right now and this is plan is rife with putting loved ones in immense debt because of desperation, guilt and love. We have a broken system.
The Trump administration is quietly moving to change the Affordable Care Act to let health insurers offer people loans to pay for their care. Deep in a document over 1,000 pages long about how the Affordable Care Act market will operate next year, the administration suggests that insurers consider offering loans to cash-strapped customers. Under this approach, people who develop a costly disease or need unexpected emergency care would turn to their health insurer for loans. A third of American households already have medical debt, and this approach would mean even more debt that patients owe to their health insurance companies. The insurers, who already make billions, would stand to make even more. nytimes.com/2026/06/11/busin…

A veteran war correspondent reflects on the afterlife of photographs — and how they become fodder for conferences and fellowships while their subjects recede into oblivion. Masterful by veteran war correspondent @shyamtekwani for @newlinesmag: newlinesmag.com/first-person…
