It's an illness currently with no cure as we know. You can die living or live dying Painting a bleak picture achieves what? Frighten people Remind them of their fate I lost a parent to a sudden event -Cared for in-laws (dem) over many years.. I know which journey I would choose

1 I've been thinking more about @alzheimerssoc ad & reaction to it. Some ppl are critical of the 'living well with dementia' idea that I unashamedly advocate for. They say that this shows ppl are wrongly diagnosed and/or don't have dementia 🧵

Surely what people with dementia and their loved ones want is the feeling that there can be hope. They know there’s no cure, but reminding them of their dilemma in such a graphic, emotive and hopeless way seems tantamount to cruelty. AS should know better. @suzysopenheart

The Alzheimer’s Society are about to make a terrible mistake with a grim and negative advertising campaign, saying people literally stop living with various losses with dementia. Not only is this a 180 degree reversal of their previous message, it isn’t true. Don’t do it. Please.
