2. And until then - Biden should send all of the allocated weapons, let the Ukrainians hit targets in Russia with American and European missiles, and above all pressure the Europeans to release the $300 billion in frozen Russian assets. No time to lose. theatlantic.com/internationa…

This is the kind of cold, callous, inadequate & disrespectful comms sent out by @hackneycouncil officers to #Hackney’s hardworking Children’s Centre staff at affected centres who have been living with the possibility of losing their jobs for months/years for Fernbank. Shameful.

A bigot, liar and cheat has won the US elections. This opens the way to Nigel Farage and may even rescue disgraced Boris Johnson. I write for Middle East Eye: middleeasteye.net/opinion/uk…

In no way can a junction design that FAILS on safety be allowed to be implemented. Hackney Council Pembury Junction plans are not fit for purpose & must be scrapped. & @hackney_cycling have an alternate Vision Zero scheme designed by a leading engineer available! @activetraveleng
Replying to @hackney_cycling
The new Pembury scheme is discussed. Astonishingly the new scheme will score just 28% on a safety assessment tool (JAT). This is a fail by a long way (70% is an automatic fail) and a very bad engineering design.

A systemic approach that is fit for the future, on its own, pointless but as part of an integrated transport strategy, it’s proven effective, bluntly, ensuring trains are readily supplied with customers is good, joined up investment. 👇(and it’s nice!)
The decision to invest €30-million in the world’s biggest bike parking (12,500 spaces) at Utrecht Central Station seems extravagant, but when you calculate the cost of the alternatives—in the context of tens of thousands of bike-train trips each day—it’s an absolute bargain...🧵

Numbers studying nursing down in England. Down 40% in north-east England, Yorkshire and Humberside and south-west England 25% down. 31,000 unfilled nursing posts. Result of years of real pay cuts, tuition fees, student debt. Need to change policies. theguardian.com/society/2024…

Keir Starmer’s decision to raise the bus fare cap by 50% is senseless, short-sighted and will disproportionately impact those on the lowest incomes. The Labour government are once again protecting the wealthy elite at the expense of our communities. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/f…

A 50% price hike on people going to work, kids getting to school or college. Why disincentivise sustainable travel? Or are we going to get a load of briefings that some bus passengers are millionaires and can afford it? We’ve crossed the threshold where Sir Keir’s Labour government is more regressive than Mr Sunak's Tories. If you want to support progressive independents and build an electoral alliance, get in touch.

Will this mean @Keir_Starmer will not put his foot in it every time he opens his mouth?🤞
This is a superb hire. @mrs_creynolds is hardworking, smart, and @UKLabour through and through. I’ve worked with her for years, and she’s a total star.
