Building connector apps for Shopify is a pain these days. I’m still waiting, and the overall process has now taken over 4 months.
📝 1. Shopify requires a signed document from the end party. So if your app forwards info to, let’s say, HubSpot, you need to get them to sign a document. Depending on the size of the organization, this alone can already take weeks or months. And if they decide not to sign the document, your app will not be reviewed.
To put that into perspective: if Zapier launched their app on the App Store today, they would need signatures from 9,000 companies.
💼 2. You (the Shopify partner) also need to sign an addendum.
Here are just a few things you need to do / comply with according to the addendum:
- On a semi-annual basis, the partner must provide Shopify with a report.
- The partner must maintain consistently applied, accurate, and complete books, records, and other documents.
- Shopify has the right at any time to perform an audit itself or appoint an independent auditor.
In my case, the app review has been completed and the app has been “approved,” and the addendum was signed as well, but the app is still not on the App Store because Shopify still has to review the signed addendum, which I’ve also been waiting on for almost a month.
