Meet the Co-Chairs of the Problem Solvers Caucus! @RepBrianFitz and @RepTomSuozzi are breaking the partisan gridlock in Washington. Together, they’re focused on finding common ground and delivering meaningful results for the American people. The Problem Solvers are here to get things done — that only happens when we work together.

Yesterday, the Problem Solvers Caucus met with redistricting experts from @CatoInstitute and @MIT to get their insight on how to best combat partisan maps. Too many Americans feel like politicians are choosing their voters instead of voters choosing their representatives. Restoring trust in that process isn’t a Democratic or Republican issue — it’s an American one.

Inflation has been a challenge for years, and it continues to be now.   We released our bipartisan Affordability Agenda to ease the burden of rising costs across health care, housing, energy, child care, and food. Affordability remains the issue Americans feel every single day. Congress cannot afford to ignore it. problemsolverscaucus.house.g…

It was great to join CNN today with @repjeffhurd to talk about @problemsolverscaucus's bipartisan efforts to reform the redistricting process and restore trust in our elections.
Partisan redistricting is a race to the bottom. @RepJeffHurd and @RepCarbajal joined @CNN’s The Situation Room to discuss the bipartisan efforts of the Problem Solvers Caucus’ new working group on gerrymandering. Competitive elections make for a healthier democracy and a more functional Congress.

Our adversaries think our differences are a weakness. They want everyone in their country to think the same, act the same, and fall in line. America’s strength comes from open debate, competing ideas, and the freedom to disagree. But social media and mainstream media increasingly rewards outrage and extremism over problem solving and common ground. We cannot allow that dynamic to weaken our ability to move the country forward together.

“We’re not looking for a perfect map. We’re looking for a process that people can trust.” Redistricting should be about public trust, not partisan advantage. That means stable rules, transparency, and fair standards that apply regardless of which party is in power. Our institutions work best when the public has confidence in the process. Listen more on the bipartisan working group on gerrymandering in my NPR interview with @RepDebDingell

Today, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced the formation of a bipartisan working group focused on addressing extreme partisan gerrymandering across the country. The creation of this working group comes at a time when Americans across the political spectrum are increasingly frustrated with a system in which politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their representatives. We believe bipartisan reforms are needed to restore competitiveness, fairness, and accountability to the democratic process.

This Memorial Day, we thank the brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. As America approaches 250 years, we remember that our nation’s strength has always been built on the courage and sacrifice of those who defended it. 🇺🇸

I joined @jonkarl on @ThisWeekABC with @RepTomSuozzi to discuss our bipartisan bill to stop DOJ’s “Anti-Weaponization Fund” before taxpayer dollars go out the door. It’s simple: we will use every tool at our disposal to block this fund and make sure not one dime of taxpayer money is turned into a discretionary payout. Our bosses are not in Washington. They are the people we represent in our districts—and we will answer to them, fight for them, and make sure their voices are heard.

We are proud to see three bills from our bipartisan Affordability Agenda included in the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which just passed the House. These measures focus on increasing housing supply, lowering costs, and removing barriers that make it harder for Americans to find affordable housing. Addressing the affordability crisis requires bipartisan solutions, and we encourage the Senate to build on this momentum.

More than half the states in America have closed primaries — meaning millions of registered independents are shut out of elections. At a time when 45% of Americans identify as independents, the largest political bloc in the country, excluding them from the democratic process is unacceptable.

When politics becomes more about protecting safe seats than serving the country, the American people lose. This morning, I joined @margbrennan on @FaceTheNation with my @ProbSolveCaucus Co-Chair, @RepTomSuozzi, to talk about a better way forward: focusing like a laser on the cost of living, confronting a broken redistricting system that rewards division, and standing with Ukraine as it fights for freedom. Too much of Washington is designed to divide us. Our duty is bigger than the politics of the moment: to serve 100% of the people we represent, bring both parties to the table, and prove that common ground is still where real progress always begins. America works best when leaders put solutions over politics. The Dignity Act is proof that we can secure the border, enforce the law, and still come together to fix a broken system the right way.

Federal interest payments are projected to reach $1.0 trillion in 2026 — more than doubling from $476 billion in 2022. That makes interest one of the fastest-growing parts of the federal budget — crowding out investments that could help lower costs for American families. The Problem Solvers Caucus remains committed to establishing a bipartisan fiscal commission to put our fiscal future on a more sustainable path. pgpf.org/programs-and-projec…
