Fantastic workshop! As my facial expression reveals, I am not used to embracing positivity, but the energy was infectious! Lots of great ideas in the pipeline here
I have just spent two days in Birmingham with my esteemed colleagues exploring how to promote ‘positive public policy’. Superb intellectual brains, hard working and super collegiate. Could this be the perfect collaboration? Think so!

I joined with the wonderful @pathwithanr and @IPPR for this analysis of voter turnout in the UK elections, and our findings were pretty stark. Not only was turnout historically low but the gaps between different kinds of places in the UK are clear. 🧵theguardian.com/politics/art…

Overall, we* find that trust in "representative" institutions has been declining by ~10 p.p. among democracies since 1990, but trust in "implementing" institutions has been rising! *Myself, @drjennings, @ProfStoker, @_HannahBunting, @DanJDevine, @lawrencemckay94 & Andrew Klassen

At today's Reform UK Manifesto event Farage said: "We’ve put up with the minds of...children, from a young age right through university…being poisoned”, raising the question: does studying at university cause attitude change? My research suggests the answer is: no, not really.

Excellent piece by @michaelkenny_ in @ConversationUK on English devo. The disaffected inhabitants of “provincial” England have felt their views and interests count for little in the citadels of democratic government. What does this mean for the future of a UK union-state model?
Also out today a new piece with @ConversationUK on English devolution and the challenges of regional inequality, which draws on some of the ideas set out in my new book theconversation.com/inequali…
