50 years ago today ā June 13, 1976: A violent F5 #tornado struck near Jordan, Iowa, killing 1 as it swept away homes and well-built farmsteads. The extreme damage surveyed by Ted Fujita was later cited among the most intense tornado damage he ever examined.
127 years ago today ā June 12, 1899: A catastrophic F5 #tornado struck New Richmond, Wisconsin, killing 117 and injuring 150 as it carved a 45-mile path through west-central Wisconsin, becoming the deadliest tornado in state history and one of the deadliest recorded in the U.S.
