1/ Just finished. A great read demonstrating now the Carolingians took a largely neutral position regarding images, & strongly rejected the conclusions of Nicaea II. The author aptly demonstrates, much to the consternation of modern EO Apologists, that -

"What is the mark of a faithful soul? To be in these dispositions of full acceptance on the authority of the words [of the Scripture], not venturing to reject anything nor making additions. For, if 'all that is not of faith is sin,' as the Apostle says, and 'faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God,' then everything outside Holy Scripture, not being of faith, is sin." — St. Basil the Great, Moralia (rule 80, ch. 22)
Today, the Church remembers the witness of St. Basil the Great.

Actually a pretty good and thoughtful section from Scholastic Answers. I k ow that I’ve been in this “box” (and hope to continue to move further away from it) and that folks from all denoms & Trads are prone to this way of thinking.
Great short video from @WalmartThomist. He brings attention to something every content creator, and every aspiring content creator, should keep in mind more, I think: the goal should be to help your audience become genuinely smarter, not merely feel smarter. That remains true even if, over time, your audience grows beyond what you can provide them. youtu.be/d0yfd1RTAHs

Then why did St. Chrysostom urge those in his congregation (especially men) to read Scripture daily … in their homes … then proceed to utterly blast them for their excuses *not* to. i.e. Pressures of family life, job, not being a monk, etc.
This whole notion of "getting the Word of God" into the hands of the people is extremely revisionist. For one, "the people" were mostly illiterate and even if they could read, couldn't afford to buy a hand-written Bible.

It’s genuinely hard to take guys like Cameron seriously when he frames things in the *worst* and least charitable possible light. Calvin: “I find parts of the canon of Ignatius inauthentic.” Cameron: “JOHN CALVIN TRIED TO ERASE IGNATIUS FROM HISTORY!” See the difference?

Cameron can disagree w/ Calvin all he wants. Strongly even. I don’t even know where I would land on this. But instead of just disagreeing w/ Calvin on the scope of the canon of Ignatius, Cameron frames his video as if Calvin *knew* the maximal canon was authentic -

- and deliberately tried to “erase Ignatius (en toto) from history … Just after Calvin praises Ignatius and affirms that they agree on many points … Slop is stupid and exhausting

“I can’t believe you won’t call us Christians but also all of your creeds are unbiblical & an abomination why are you being so mean spirited? Let us be a part of a religion that we reject & mock all core tenants of!” LDSchizos really are, genuinely, very bizarre people.

The LDS are more “Sola Feelz” than even most of the Charismatics that I grew up around.
