Zoom into illustration #2: New World monkeys like capuchins have much more folded brains than their Marmoset cousins. Surprisingly, their folding pattern is almost identical to that of Old World monkeys like macaques despite ~47my independent evolution—as much as whales&hippos!

Lining up primate brains solely based on their size provides a 1st striking illustration of the importance of mechanical morphogenesis: despite jumping across far branches of the phylogenetic tree, the sequence is continuous, hinting at a common underlying organising principle.

Lifestyle is a stronger predictor of aging and mortality than genetics.
A new Nature study of ~500,000 people found:
🎯 17% of mortality variation was linked to lifestyle (exposome).
🧬 <2% of was explained by genetics.
