2:30 PM MONDAY 6/15/2026 TROPICAL UPDATE
An area of low pressure currently over Mexico may emerge into the northwestern Gulf late Tuesday. If that happens, there is a 50% chance it could briefly develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm from Wednesday into Thursday before moving inland. Should it become a named storm, it would be called Arthur.
While this system is not expected to become particularly strong, it will likely bring torrential rainfall to parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, raising the threat of flash flooding in some areas.
Unfortunately, most of the deep tropical moisture associated with this system will be shunted south of the Carolinas, so a widespread soaking rain does not appear likely for our area.
Beyond this potential Gulf system, the tropics are expected to remain quiet through at least the next week.
