DC residents back raises for restaurant workers and transparent menu prices.
As written, the bill incentivizes some restaurants to add controversial service charges and reduces worker pay.

A lot of it is popular. But, surprise, the provision dealing with service charges is getting some pushback.

This is an unacceptable abuse of service charges! There must be transparency, accountability and enforcement around where the money from service charges go so that it doesn't impact the wages of the workers who should really be receiving these funds. @DachaDC @DCAttorneyGen

We are at the Wilson Building asking @councilofus to save the $20 million in the FY23 budget that was allocated to Excluded Workers! The money was about to be distributed when the Mayor tried to swipe it for her own priorities. Council cannot let her steal money from workers! 1/

Last week our members joined other members and advocates of the Excluded Worker Coalition to say #BowserNoSwiping! Mayor Bowser is trying to steal the money won by Excluded Workers last year. The @councilofdc must ensure that this funding goes to the people it was meant to.
