Trump’s anti-DEI orders have caused chaos, fear, and confusion in restaurant workplaces and across cities and communities. As ROC United faces significant funding cuts, we urgently need your financial support to maintain our programs: mightycause.com/story/Racial…

"Gov. Whitmer should have vetoed Senate Bill 8. This legislative action to change the minimum wage increase and to modify the subminimum wage for tipped workers just one week before its scheduled implementation raises serious concerns about the future of our democratic process."

While the new legislation will raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2027 and benefit millions of workers, it fails to fully eliminate the subminimum wage as mandated by the State Supreme Court.

We celebrate that the state's minimum wage increases to $12.48/hr & will rise to $15 by 2027. This great achievement is the result of years of intensive organizing & relentless court battles from @rocmichigan MI OFW Ballot Steering Committee, @momjustice & countless allies.

As an avid diner, the narrative suggesting tips will disappear without the tip credit is FALSE. @JeremyAllenMoss Some employers will even pay workers to show up at the State Capitol to spread unfounded claims. #Michiganders want to eliminate the subminum wage—that’s the truth.

#MISupremeCourt ruling ensures that over 860,000 Michigan workers will have a higher take-home at the end of the day and a more stable base pay, leading to a more stable workforce and reduced job turnover. #MajorityForThePeople

This is a no-brainer: Large restaurant chains and their executives, who earn millions of $$$ each year, embrace tipping and benefit from it 'cause it allows them to reduce labor costs and boost profits at the expense of tipped workers, many of whom rely on restaurant jobs!

You know why fastfood restaurants don’t want to eliminate subminimum wages? Because the tip credit allows them to pay a lower wage to workers, continue labor abuse & compensate their executives billions of $$$ a year while workers struggle to make ends meet. @Hertelforsenate

American workers deserve a real wage, not a fake subminimum wage. #NoSlaveWageinMI

Opponents of the min. wage increase and subminimum wage elimination in #Michigan take an approach that creates an echo chamber, a feedback loop where spreading stories of harm could lead to public alarm and instill fear while presenting themselves as the only solution. #RespectMI

You might be able to take paid time off when you or your child get sick, but most people (including restaurant workers) in the U.S. — 106 million to be exact — don’t have access to paid family leave through their jobs for serious health needs. nationalpartnership.org/repo…

The restaurant industry relies on workers of all backgrounds to sustain itself. The diversity of our industry is what sets us apart. @realDonaldTrump wishes to see the end of all DEI programs of any kind whatsoever — and we will not stand for it. @rocunited
